CoastalWx
Flag...20 yds for excitement interference Loss of weenie down. In all seriousness..hopefully we do get a nice burst. Just saying don't be surprised if it's further north..but some of the models do have a nice burst coming in. It's going to be fighting mid level warmth. Tropopause_Fold
1-2 of snow then ice then a little light rain ..then it ends. Hopefully it won;t torch away tomorrow. Would be nice to have snow OTG for much of the week. unfortunately going to be tough to avoid the big temp rise tomorrow and tomorrow night i think. but an inch or two of snow certainly possible. Baroclinic Zone
Looks to be the third biggest snowstorm of the year for many tonight. Please be careful driving. NAM looks like it may even start us out as a light snow before transitioning. 850's below 0c with surface temps in the low 30's.

Yeah I don't think I can avoid getting to 40-42 or so tomorrow aftenoon..but if it's topped off with a little ice..maybe it can lock a little snowcover in..then if we can all grab another 1-2 Thursday and then the Saturday event..That's our winter
Cold Miser
lol at that pathetic map, and how we're drooling to grab .5"-2" THIS is what's it's come down to.
Clinch Leatherwood
lol at that pathetic map, and how we're drooling to grab .5"-2" THIS is what's it's come down to. CT has probably already called off school in the border regions.

CoastalWx
Strong LLJ on the GFS feeding in moisture. Even gives my area a shot at an inch. It's all going to depend on how the moisture comes together. If it takes too long..then forget it. The whole setup is interesting, in that it's not really warmth lifted up over a front..it's all just upglide over a colder atmosphere
NorEastermass128
I'm thinking a coating to 1.5" is looking like a good bet for much of the region tonight. Hopefully the end of the week threats pan out.
weatherMA
gfs looks good for tonight Further south...looks there could be a burst of snow even in like HFD/BDL this run from like 12-3am...maybe an inch.
Cold Miser
CT has probably already called off school in the border regions. lol Most schools that were hit with Irene damage (we were closed for about a week) are hoping they don't have to cancel. The schools that were hit with Irene and the snow from October are really screwed if they have to close this winter for snow. Although, right now it doesn't seem like we will have to worry about that this winter.

highrollah
If I'm trying to see the rain/snow line with some of the dual pol products. What is the best way to see that? NOAA hasn't updated their website to see the products like the KBOX radar site.

moneypitmike
I still think the cold ground may provide for a more extended icing situation than would otherwise been modeled. Below 0 the last two nights, yesterday never hit double digits, and sitting at 15.3/4 at 1:00p.m. Probably won't impact trees too much, but I think there's a lot of ground cold that needs to be elmiminated before plain rain can begin.
