wxmanmitch
I just wanted to post some pictures from the incredible snow squalls and upslope snowstorm we had here in the Berkshire hills of western MA yesterday. At the height of the squalls the visibility was down to probably 200 or 300 feet at most and snow was accumulating about an inch every 15 minutes. This is what 40+ dBZ snow will do. These were probably the heaviest snowfall rates I've ever witnessed! We had 9" total for the event, which lasted from about 12 noon to 7 PM (snowfall rates varied between flurries and 4-5" per hour). As these upslope snow squall events are highly mesoscale in nature, the models pretty much missed it and didn't really forecast these types of localized amounts. I posted the photos in the New England subforum, but I'll put them here too. Notice how dark it is; these were taken at 1-1:30 in the afternoon. Enjoy! I can't even remember where I took the last one. The spruce tree is probably about 30-40 feet away. That's how hard it was snowing!
ski MRG
Nice Mitch. I was at MRG the last two days so I missed the action here but I did get to shovel when I got home.

Allenson
Nice shots--always love a good white-out. Had some decent squalls here too yesterday and the last juicy white-out was earlier in the month.

wxmanmitch
Darn, I am quite envious! How much do you have on the ground now? We have about 10" OTG now. The snow we had yesterday compacted a bit, but we have about 2.5-3" of hard crusty stuff underneath from Thursday morning.
