canderson
I'm in Texas right now, but my wife told me it's all sleet in Tamaqua. Please tell my home state I love and miss it. Where are you exactly? I can give ya tips on where to eat!No precip here now, certainly everything now on is plain rain.
JSTWX
Just ventured outside, there's a glaze on pretty much everything. Barely able to stand on our gravel driveway. Even the secondary road that goes past our house has a nasty glaze on it attm. I could do the whole running start and slide for a long distance on it. That second batch coming could make things messier before they get better. Holding at 32° at our studios @ 1800'. Good coating of ice/sleet on everything. I'm intrigued by the weekend system as well. Most models have us cold enough for something other than rain, which is plausible with the fresh cold air arriving Friday.
MAG5035
All moderate rain with this second batch, temps continue to lurk at about the 32 degree mark.

hckyplayer8
Surprised the cold is hanging on as long as it is. Thought for sure it would have retreated well over the first major ridge by now. 32F here. Bet it shoots up when this line comes through.

whiteout
06 gfs looked really good for i80 north for the weekend. May start as some front end snow for the lowers Susquehanna before the warm air pushes in. Need that a bit south and east and we would be in business down here. It seems the majority of times, it's very difficult to scour out cold air here in these situations.

hckyplayer8
Icy and dicy. Meh. We'll see. Looking at the GFS Skew T's, surface winds already switch and are coming out of the SE in advancement of the first couple bands. Not saying there won't be an initial mix bag, but certainly wouldn't look at the low res GFS for determining length of a certain P-type.

Forecasting temps here for these sort of situations must be one of the top ten toughest forecasts to make. The worst was Christmas Eve 2009, had freezing rain much longer than expected . EasternUSWX
Verdict on the Euro? SNE doesn't seem too impressed with it. That is cause it is dry for them lol. Most of PA get 2-3" to ice.
hckyplayer8
Verdict on the Euro? SNE doesn't seem too impressed with it. Extremely light precip. So light and brief that it actually swings through and is gone fast enough that the majority of it should come down as flakes everywhere except for SW PA. Some spotty stuff swings through later when the temps are inductive of mix precip.
