PennMan
Steady light snow started here a bit ago, coating everything nicely already. Very small flakes at the moment. Currently 25°

CarlislePaWx
Well, gotta head off to bed but last update is.... Temp down to 22.6, humidity 77%, dp 17. Think we have at least one to two more evaporative degrees to go, so maybe all the way down to 20 degrees before it levels off. Snowing moderately to heavily with 0.5" of snow on the ground. Looks great! I'll be back i the morning with my Carlisle update......nite all.... ---Stephen
PSU8315
I think I saw the pavement twice coming back to State College. Pretty much S+ from Bald Eagle up - has to be close to 2" here.

EasternUSWX
Oh baby!!! MESOSCALE DISCUSSION 0036 NWS STORM PREDICTION CENTER NORMAN OK 1159 PM CST FRI JAN 20 2012 AREAS AFFECTED...SRN AND CNTRL PA CONCERNING...HEAVY SNOW VALID 210559Z - 211000Z HEAVY SNOWFALL IS EXPECTED TO DEVELOP ACROSS SRN AND CNTRL PA LATER TONIGHT. SNOWFALL RATES COULD REACH 1 INCH PER HOUR ACROSS PARTS OF THE MCD AREA. WATER VAPOR IMAGERY CURRENTLY SHOWS A SHORT-WAVE TROUGH EXTENDING FROM THE ERN GREAT LAKES SWWD ACROSS THE OH VALLEY. A LARGE AREA OF PRECIPITATION IS LOCATED JUST AHEAD OF THE AXIS OF THE SHORTWAVE TROUGH FROM SRN OH EXTENDING EWD INTO THE CNTRL APPALACHIAN MTNS. A THREAT FOR FREEZING RAIN OR SLEET MAY EXIST ACROSS SW PA FOR A FEW MORE HOURS DUE TO WARMER AIR IN PLACE SOUTH OF THE PITTSBURG AREA. HOWEVER...FROM PITTSBURG EWD TO NEAR HARRISBURG...THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD BE ALL SNOW WHERE FORECAST SOUNDINGS SHOW TEMPS BELOW -10C IN THE 850 TO 700 MB LAYER. IN ADDITION...MODEL FORECASTS MARKEDLY STRENGTHEN ISENTROPIC LIFT ACROSS SRN AND CNTRL PA LATER TONIGHT AS THE SHORTWAVE APPROACHES FROM THE WEST. THIS SHOULD RESULT IN ENOUGH LIFT FOR HEAVY SNOWFALL WITH SNOWFALL RATES REACHING 1 INCH PER HOUR MAINLY DURING THE OVERNIGHT PERIOD.
hckyplayer8
SN started roughly 35 mins ago. Went from flurries to SN in a heartbeat. Was at a buddies house on 72 and there was nothing. Get home and I nearly have quarter of an inch. Laying on everything.
Mallow
We were already up to about 1.2" here as of 1 AM. The radar looks really good to the WSW.

That's what I just measured here at Bellwood, 2 inches. Seems to be a nice stiff NE breeze to help those flakes along. I bet I-99 was quite the low visibility nightmarish drive. PSU8315
About an inch here, most of the SN+ is south of here. I think I may be lucky to hit 4" I would have to agree - I pulled most of the NY border counties out of my 4-7" area earlier and went to 2-4". The core of this looks to be closer to I-80. MAG5035
I wish there were more cams towards Roaring Spring and Claysburg to see whats goin on in that band of higher echoes. The ones in Duncansville and at Crosskeys (I-99/US22 junction) on the fringes of those echoes show it just hammering snow.

Visibility on the traffic cams has been pretty high considering the 40+ dbz returns, which makes me think there is some sleet mixing in.

Definitely at least 1.25-1.5 on car tops. Yup. Pugh at Westerly is completely snow covered. Snow has been more intense so far since 1:30, so I expect we'll be around 1.9" or so (another 0.5") by 2AM. I'll go out and check at that time.

That SPC graphic says best snow is from 8z-12z (blending the two times since we're right in the middle. That's 3-7AM...a lot of time for snow to pile up. Yea i've been OCD-ing over the Cambria county cams most of the evening..def have the look of a probable mix considering the reflectivity near JST. Ebensburg still looks like mostly or all snow. The one on Chickaree Summit near the Cambria/Indiana border now has ice on the lens indicating there is freezing rain present. Don't know why that one dissappeared of the 511 site, its still on the old PennDOT statewide listing site.

It does seem like there is ice accumulating on it, and since JST is now reporting a mix, it certainly could be.
