Thanks LakeEffect. What is the best source to retrieve the data in that format?

Looks like RSS came in as the fifth warmest September. Correct me if I'm wrong.

LOL at warmers accusing John Christy of manipulating data. You guys are no better than the skeptics accusing James Hansen of manipulating the data.

That's just scandalously unfair.

Hansen is an experienced, well respected scientist whose understanding of climate change is borne out by his predictions.

Christy is a scientifically ignorant hack trying to implement a nonsensical political agenda at the behest of people who stand to profit from it.

might as well compare Einstein with Bozo the Clown

The work Spencer and Christy have done with satellite temperature data is accepted by the scientific community and generally regarded as being a significant contribution.

The difference between Spencer/Christy and Hansen is that Spencer and Christy have published a lot of un-scientific work in journals with little or no peer review, or in books. Hansen has also written unscientific things or exaggerations in magazines and newspapers, but not to the same extent which Spencer and Christy have. Hansen's many contributions to the body of peer-reviewed work on AGW are also of much greater significance.

Um, do you want me to point out all of his failed predictions? I've done it before, so if you insist, I'll be happy to again.

Hansen is also different from Christy and Spencer in the sense that he has gotten arrested multiple times because of his climate change activism.

Christy and Spencer are not activists, and they have not gotten arrested.

RSS which does not use AMSU comes in warmer for September than UAH.

2012 1 -0.0591

2012 2 -0.1218

2012 3 0.0724

2012 4 0.3312

2012 5 0.2317

2012 6 0.3378

2012 7 0.2907

2012 8 0.2552

2012 9 0.3833

That's also due to the fact that RSS uses a 1979-2000 baseline wheras UAH uses a 1979-2010 baseline. In fact, UAH would be at a 0.44 Degree C anomaly if it used a 1979-2000 baseline, so UAH is once again warmer than RSS.

Spencer and Christy most definitely are activists for AGW-denialism.

And I don't really see Hansen's arrests as any bigger deal than his environmental activism or Spencer and Christy's anti-science activism.

You're correct - Christy and Spencer prefer talk to action, whereas Hansen is willing to risk arrest in non-violent protest against issues that are important to him. But I'm puzzled - by what twisted moral yardstick can you believe that inaction by Christy and Spencer is in any way superior to action by Hansen? Shouldn't we respect those people, like Hansen, with the strength of conviction to work for the goals they believe in - even if that means putting themselves at risk?

As we Texans would say - Christy and Spencer are all hat and no cattle. And as younger folks would say - Hansen doesn't just talk the talk, he walks the walk.

It's probably a bit infuriating to hate or not like Hansen and know deep down a Man in his position doing those things is the epitome of Bravery, Honor, and Courage.

You left off ego, delusions, illusions of grandeur and money. Also while I dislike Hansen I have no thoughts "deep down" of him being brave, honorable or courageous.

Are you saying that the 'powers that be" have adjusted the USHCN readings up by more than 0.5 degrees?

Jon

Looks like they have warmed this year about 1.75 degrees relative to 1920 (if Steve's graph is correct) and most of the 2000's by around .5 degrees. I can see that though, considering the enhanced cooling effect of Urbanization. <sarc>

The thread does tend to get overly serious from time to time so humor can be a welcome relief. Have you got any Bastardi Predictions to go with the Goddard Graph?

Terry

Maybe Steve should put a Sine curve on the data to really get you guys howling mad.

It would be nice to see where the USHCN adjustment data is coming from on Goddard's graph...otherwise we can't really take it seriously. Adjustments should not be that high though if the graph is correct unless I am completely missing something. TOBS is much less of an issue now, and UHI should be doing that unless there was a mass relocation of urban thermometers to rural areas in the past couple of years and they are trying to keep the temp record intact.
