It's probably just me, but I have a feeling we see a MECS or HECS sometime in the February 1-10 period. The massive amplification and huge PNA ridge looks so similar to Feb 2006 although I guess the blocking may be lacking a bit. I think its highly unlikely we get such major amplification without a major event. 2005-2006 was also a very warm and really sucky winter till the Feb storm, it would have been compared to 2007-208 had it not been for that storm.
