"Snow Wall") which is part of the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route which is around 20 miles, located between Toyama and Nagano Prefectures in Central Japan. Pretty cool dynamics that lead to those snows, in a somewhat similar way resembles lake effect on crack. Arctic air comes off Siberia and hits the sea of japan moistening and then hitting the higher elevations of Japan unloading insane snows. I saw a snow board flick with sean white where they had like 5 feet in one night while staying at a condo in Hokkaido, They were snowboarding out the second floor window. I saw a snow board flick with sean white where they had like 5 feet in one night while staying at a condo in Hokkaido, They were snowboarding out the second floor window. indeed, almost constant snow there; it's crazy... the Japanese Amedas don't have much coverage along the Japanese Alps but areas with elevation around 1300ft are reporting snow depth of 4 to 6 feet; obviously much higher as you go up...
