Guest Patrick
It's my almost nine-month-old twin boys first winter snowfall. When they are old enough to understand my sick obsession with weather, hopefully they will appreciate the October snowfall, while being their first, didn't technically happen in winter. tired thoughts from a tired dad. dbc
I have posted this ever since I started coming to Weather message boards starting back on the Weather Channel Winter 2000 boards and WWBB starting Feb 2001 so I have to do it here again also. Perhaps it is corny but hey I am a traditionalist. Hey, someone here will be getting measurable snowfall in this area with this next system for the first time this winter so the moment you all have been waiting for has arrived. Here's the Snow Song's first appearance of the season, enjoy: Wanted to wait till I saw snow but the now famous Snow Song is back: [based on the title song from Supertramp's first album Crime of the Century (1974)] Now winter's planning, the storm of the century. Well when, will it be? Read all about the snow and strong gusty winds. Yes, It's well worth a fee So bundle up and see...(loud but brief guitar intrusion) How it pounds the universe How it's gone from bad to worse Who are these mets. of lust, greed and glory Steal their models and let's see But that forecast's not right, oh no what's the story? Well there's a temp. of 43... (Shut up, that can't be right)

MJO812
I think the end of the week storm is dead. The one next weekend has to be watched. The GGEM,0z GFS and 6z GEFS has the storm a long the coast.

mattinpa
This is going to close. Phase going on with this run 850s cold but BL is above freezing. Promising, but I wonder if it's a cold rain or non-accumulating snow verbatim.
MJO812
850s cold but BL is above freezing. Promising, but I wonder if it's a cold rain or non-accumulating snow verbatim. The low in that spot to our north isn't good at all. The GFS ensembles have been hinting at a storm during this timeframe.
SnoSki14
If it phases though, we might have a marginal snow solution though considering how cold the 850 is . There is a nice 50/50 low in place so the storm doesn't go inland but antecedent cold is lacking is it would be close. It's far enough out there that a lot can change. mattinpa
The low in that spot to our north isn't good at all. The GFS ensembles have been hinting at a storm during this timeframe. Agree. It might help also if the low deepened closer to us. On this run, it skirts northeast.
MJO812
It's good to see the GFS sticking to a coastal storm. The RH fields are really high along the coast on this run. Lets hope the Euro shows something nice.
