MJO812
This is from Joe D'Aleo on Weatherbell a warm up follows into next week around the time of the traditional January thaw 22-24th. But it doesn't last long as the warmth contributes to the building warm Davis Straits/Greenland ridge that will tank the NAO and start a blocking pattern that should turn February interesting. Brian5671
Clipper fail on the Nam like I said, bust. No clipper has worked out this year. Follow Seattle's weather for the next few days until it turns to rain and gets all washed away--imagine that-a foot of snow, and then 5 days of rain

jm1220
Please stay like this. NAO will stay in a configuration that's very unfavorable for us, even if it heads towards neutral on an east-based ridge, and look at how much higher the AO has been verifying vs. predictions. I'll believe it when I see it, basically.
jm1220
Now this is the place to be at if you are a snow weenie. http://forecast.weat...ew&unit=0&lg=en It's really looking like a classic Nina pattern now with the heavy snow threats for the Pacific NW, stream of inland cutters and the -PNA. MJO812
GFS is warm and north with this weekends event. Looks similiar to Feb 2008 event. That storm overachiever for our area. It was supposed to merge with another low but it never did. Maybe we will get lucky with this event.
