Guest Pamela
God, I loved Donnie Baseball Henderson & Mattingly were the two best players in the league that year...but they couldn't get anybody out...save for Guidry...who turned in his last good year...and really, one of his best since the monster campaign in '78... Guranteed if we did get a real storm, they would claim all their supplies have been used from the winter just to get a lot of money next year. LIke come on now, the only event we had was the October storm and that only took out a small fraction of the winter budget.

TheTrials
dot budgets are a lot of the time based on what they spent the year before, which is why Danbury snow totals are always 5 inches more than anyone else.

SnoSki14
GFS has a snowstorm inside 5 days!! Probably gonna be another thread the needle event, temps look marginal. There's a high to the north but it's not particularly strong nor is it very entrenched. The low on the other hand looks fairly week so it's probably not going to be a big amplified low that really cuts far inland.

NYCSuburbs
The 18z GFS trended wetter throughout the day for Thursday night, now showing nearly 0.1" QPF in NYC on Thursday night with greater than 0.1" QPF in Long Island. I would be surprised if I get an inch here but at this rate, a coating could be reasonable if the latest trends continue and we don't go back to the ECM/yesterday's GFS solutions of NYC in a dry slot. Saturday's storm is also becoming much more borderline, the sounding still support snow but as with the ECM, all it takes is a small north shift to turn this into a cold rain, and given how storms frequently trended north this winter (as tonight's storm did for example), I would rather go with a rain/snow mix to rain scenario over a snowstorm, although it could change. NYCSuburbs
Mt. Holly threw in a small laugh in their discussion about the medium range warmth potential: WE HAVE NOT HAD MUCH COLD WEATHER TO THAW FROM SO FAR THIS METEOROLOGICAL WINTER. SO THIS SEASONAL THAW IS THE METEOROLOGICAL EQUIVALENT OF HAVING DESSERT WITHOUT HAVING TO EAT ANY OF THE BROCCOLI AT ALL.

At least this one is within 5 days, so perhaps there won't be as much trending. All it would take to be a rain/snow or icy mix is a small shift, though.
