ag3
18z gfs has ice day 10+. Despite 850's being north of the area, a 1047 high is north of us and surface stays from 27-32. Looks like a 93-94 type storm. A little snow, ice and rain. http://mag.ncep.noaa.gov/NCOMAGWEB/appcontroller?prevPage=Model&MainPage=indexℑ=&page=Param&cycle=01%2F14%2F2012+18UTC&rname=SFC-LAYER+PARMS&pname=10m_wnd_precip&pdesc=&model=GFS&area=NAMER&cat=MODEL+GUIDANCE&fcast=252&areaDesc=North+America+-+US+Canada+and+northern+Mexico&prevArea=NAMER&currKey=model&returnToModel=&imageSize=M

SnowGoose69
if we dont get any big volcanic eruptions this year, next winter will be like this. Very unlikely, we'll likely be totally neutral ENSO next winter and its doubtful we'd see a massive stratospheric cooling again that totally screwed us during the fall, the result of that event likely caused the deepening snow pack over AK and Sibera and is now resulting in the relative high height anomalies wanting to setup there the rest of the winter. Ninos will behave differently the next 20-25 years and have been behaving differently in general the last decade.
