Sundog
Winter ended last year right around Feb 1st. Maybe it will be the opposite this year. Winter did not end on February 1st.

Sundog
The cold ended in February. We switched to a new pattern in February. The month was only 1.4 degrees above normal and that's mostly due to 2 days that had 20+ temp departures. I still got about 6 inches total inside the month of February. You'll be begging for that "non winter month" as you say it was this year.

pazzo83
how can something like this happen in the year 2012? http://mediagallery....+of+Italy/G3214 This is the last year of our existence. Expect to see this type of thing going forward. I fully expect a landfalling major hurricane on the east coast in the next 30 days.

tmagan
If January also goes snowless in NYC then that would be only the second time in recorded history that Central Park saw no measurable snow in January, and the first time in recorded history that Central Park saw no measurable snow in both December and January. Central Park had a trace yesterday, so that is out the window.

Hailstorm
Central Park had a trace yesterday, so that is out the window. But a trace is not equal to measurable snow, or even 0.1"
tmagan
But a trace is not equal to measurable snow, or even 0.1" Well, there have been a couple of other January's with only a trace of snow, so the correct way of saying it will be that this would be the fourth January with no measurable snow. KEITH L.I
What to do on a mid January day as a snowlover with nothing to track for weeks?.It's really tough, but these winters do happen usually once in a decade..ya just have to stick it out..I survived 72-73,97-98 and 01-02..and I'm still breathing
NYCSuburbs
I had two flizzards so far today with flakes actually staying on the ground without melting on contact, the equivalent of a SECS for this winter's standards. Most of the flurry action is centered to my south but there's another snow shower approaching.

NYCSuburbs
Any reports of a coating of snow in Essex or Hudson counties? It seems that a 10-20 dbz band has been stuck there for a while, and from what I've seen these flakes are able to temporarily stick on the ground.
