NYCSuburbs
At least we still have the HRRR for today with the NAM coming close... I'm actually getting excited for a low potential for a handful of flakes. Even if this pattern does eventually produce snow that actually accumulates, which it will at some point but not too much, most of this winter has pretty much gone to waste. And it would have been reasonable to think that between Dec 1 and Jan 25, at least one storm should have had a somewhat supportive set up for snow... SnoSki14
The Euro is terrible. It re establishes the PV over Greenland along with a large negative height anomaly over Alaska and Western Canada. Probably one of the worst runs in the long range that I have seen so far this winter. No doubt about it, a terrible pattern for snow for almost everybody on the East Coast. http://www.meteo.psu...0.5_0z/f216.gif At least the whole country is in a torch and not just us. Usually places like SNE benefit greatly and we get screwed but in this case, everybody is screwed. This winter is a wrap in my book but I still have a feeling that we get something big at the end, in March or something.
Analog96
Oh man...I was just about ready to plant tomatoes. Interesting fact about the recent intensity of storms over the past 18 months or so... NJM, our homeowners & auto insurance company, is raising rates mostly due to the extraordinary increase in wind-related claims they have experienced. Anyone else get any weather-related notices from their insurance companies lately? No. NJM sent me a rebate check for $85 in the mail last month. That's about all. Guest Patrick
No. NJM sent me a rebate check for $85 in the mail last month. That's about all. Yeah we got the rebate this year... the wind-related policy increase notice came with our renewal package.

RutgersWx92
If January also goes snowless in NYC then that would be only the second time in recorded history that Central Park saw no measurable snow in January, and the first time in recorded history that Central Park saw no measurable snow in both December and January. bates
Winter ended last year right around Feb 1st. Maybe it will be the opposite this year. Ant -- I don't buy the "end of winter" calls any more than the cold and snowy winter outlooks and pattern change calls. May still get something you'd like but keep a realistic view down the road. MJO812
Agree Bates. You just have to take one day at a time. Long range calls have been awful this winter. I think we will get a shot of snow in February. I mean how long is this pattern going to last? We have been in the same pattern since September..
