Cfa
Cfa around 20 minutes ago... Lmaooooooooo I'm thinking the wind may have sent a piece of debri into it. The screen wasn't ripped so if something did hit the window it most likely bounced off the screen. Windows dont just blow out in Tropical Storm force winds/gusts. I'll try to get better pics tomorrow when it's brighter and the winds die down. Just for now to prove that I wasn't lying: JFK technically saw a trace and I didn't even see a flurry. Guest Pamela
I am speaking for myself, had no power for two days and no cable for a week, and I was one of the lucky ones. The point is, Long Island is not a traditionally great location for snow. They are almost always rain in marginal setups when the interior is snowing and big noreasters don't usually come around too often, the last two years have been quite the exception to the norm. I couldn't agree with you more...it almost never snows on Long Island...look at these horrendous snow totals for the last few winter seasons recorded at Brookhaven Lab / Upton in central Suffolk County...it is just like living at Hatteras... 1993-94: 55.0" 1995-96: 90.7" 2000-01: 51.2" 2002-03: 62.1" 2003-04: 60.2" 2004-05: 78.5" 2008-09: 43.0" 2009-10: 67.8" 2010-11: 61.5" 9 times in last 18 years more than 40 inches 8 times in last 18 years more than 50 inches 6 times in last 18 years more than 60 inches 2 times in last 18 years more than 70 inches 1 time in last 18 years more than 90 inches Upton is on central Long Island with an altitude of 85 feet and the mean annual snowfall after 64 years of record keeping is 31.76". In the hilly areas on the N. Shore (the highest spot is just over the 400 foot mark) to the nw and wnw of Upton, average annual snowfall is likely one to three inches more in an average year, though we have no records to substantiate this. http://www.bnl.gov/weather/4cast/MonthlySnowfall.htm

Strongbad
The Yankees traded Montero for Pineda. Holy crap! Risky gamble. Pineda has "bad mechanics" according to scouting reports. I love his stuff but this really is a big risk. JIC, bad mechanics often are an indication for future injuries.
Guest Pamela
Upton has measured 481.3 inches of snow over the last 11 winters...2000-01 through 2010-11...an average of 43.75 inches of snow per year..making the last 11 years a solid foot snowier than average... http://www.bnl.gov/weather/4cast/MonthlySnowfall.htm
RUNNAWAYICEBERG
The Yankees traded Montero for Pineda. Holy crap! you're such a cafeteria mod.... this is the weather banter thread. jk though....id make the deal in a heartbeat. as good as montero is and can be, young up and coming stud pitchers are harder to come by. i like it. although mlb.com says the deal isnt final yet.....and we know how the trade for cliff lee ended up so. It is final based on a physical. They also signed Hideki Kuroda to a 1-yr deal. That I really really like. Bye bye AJ?

Agree with all points. Someone else I read raised this point: In the past, Cashman could have traded Montero for Halladay, Cliff Lee, or King Felix (each opportunity arose at different times obviously). If Pineda does not pan out, how does it make Cashman look when he could have received one of three proven Aces?

I also think this trade could make or break cashs future with the yanks, because of all the opportunities hes passed on like you mention and then how he "settled" with this one.
