I was being sarcastic. I'm not at all surprised.

Haha. I really have not experienced the roads around here during snow events. Previously I lived on campus so I really had no reason to venture out. 52 tonight resembled the roads back @ home in rural Jasper County. I thought Lafayette would be better at treating the roads. Guess I was wrong.

It started to really snow hard in the past couple of minutes. We're getting hit with a nice little pocket of snow that swung over Ohio and Lake Erie. Combined with the howling winds and bitter wind chills, this is probably the closest we've come to a true winter storm since March 2011.

I can see us getting some large-ish drifts considering how limited the snowfall will be.

Heaviest snowfall rates so far with this storm occurring. Haven't even attempted to measure, but somewhere in the 1-2" range so far.

Yeah, just looked outside, and was like holy crap. Looks like we are getting some help from the low level FGEN enhancing lift in our area, as well as nice sfc convergence. The new low pressure is also shown on this RUC initialization too, right over GRR.

Decent snow in West MI this morning. Not the 5 - 10 they forecasted, but it is probably in the 4" range and still snowing so 5" is not out of the question. I found this map very interesting this morning though.

Look how warm MI is compared to everything else around. That happened yesterday also and caused us to waste approximately our first .15" of precip in the form of rain vs. snow.

With the gradient on the northern edge of this snowshield you'd think a 1050mb ridge was located over Lk Superior. Toronto4 looks like he's getting pounded while I've yet to see a flake.

edit: flakes flying now.

Light to moderate snow currently falling in the downtown core. It looks like an inch is a sure bet. If we're lucky, maybe a tad more.
