Chicago WX
the talk of 15-20:1 ratios in these parts is looking pretty silly Been a disappointment really.
Thundersnow12
the talk of 15-20:1 ratios in these parts is looking pretty silly The problem was though the DGZ was forecasted 36-48hrs ago to be very impressive/deep. But as we got closer the models latched on to a warm nose around 800mb keeping temps above -10 degrees C for most of the event. If those temps were colder it would of been different. As I look outside its picking back up a bit with flake size a tad better.

Just measured a 15" drift (at the peak) behind the house in the wind tunnel. Im confused...are you in LAF or did you travel north for the storm? blue60007
Area of heavier returns continues to expand across the rest of the county. Visibility continues to drop, best snow I've seen all winter!
hawkeye_wx
I finished with 5.6" or so. The Cedar Rapids area appears to be one of the winners with this system. I had to blow/shovel four driveways and I'm quite ready for a good night of sleep. The very cold temp and dry snow blowing back into my face made the work suck that much more than it normally would. Gilbertfly
Really tough to gauge how much new snowfall in the my area (bolingbrook) multiple measurements averaged out to 4.3 inches ... highest drift was 15 inches ... bouncin' back and forth setween -SN and SN

blue60007
Looks like LAF finally got over the 2" mark! About an inch in the past 90 minutes. Nice heavy blob over Tippecanoe county continues. Seems like it is just spinning over LAF.
gosaints
Somewhere between 4 and 5 inches. Hard to tell. In terms of what has happened other places I would place this in the category of an overachiever here on the back side.
Justin
Well its been nice to see Winter return here. That being said, the system was a bit of an under-performer here for what I thought would shake out. I have about 4.8" down still a bit of bursts of light snow coming down. Highest amounts appear to have been N of highway 30 from Cedar Rapids area over through Savanna IL and up through Galena IL and Dubuque IA with 5.5-6.5" in those spots. Unfortunately, doesn't look like this is gonna last on the ground long with warmth coming back Monday with a bit of light rain. Appears a bit of seasonal warmth is gonna come charging back into the Midwest the end of next week or there abouts. Such is the Winter in a progressive pattern. Chicago WX
LAF magic. Confidence in 3-5" fully restored. As I said, we rally well. Probably the best rates of the event here in IKK right now. Gonna go out and give it a measure in a little bit.
