AcworthWx
That snowshower was booking it. Over before it started, but nice to see regardless. I was getting excited before it hit us. The winds had died down to nothing and the clouds were moving at a snails pace. I was thinking we may actually have 15-20 minutes of sn falling, oh well it's was fun nonetheless. jrips27
I was in the center of a beautiful snow shower. Lasted about 10 minutes and the snow approached heavy at times. The wind here has been unbelievable, we've had gusts well over 30 mph. AJC reporting quite a few trees down and folks without power in Buckhead. With the ground saturated and the large trees down there, not surprising.

Lookout
No flurries here but the winds have been crazy high. Have had a top gust so far of 45mph. Athens has had a top gust to 38mph. Anderson to 48 mph, Watkinsville, just south of athens, has had a gust to 51mph.You can tell this is a special wind event because there isn't any "calm" between gusts. It's just a constant and non stop roar. Very impressive. A bit chilly with temp down to 34 now.
Local Yokel Wx
This flow across the region is the ideal setup for the Great Balsams to rake in on the snowfall. Storms break off the Cowee range and become enhanced by the time they reach the Great Balsams (Pkwy). Im hoping they might delay or call of work tomorrow and from what Im hearing around FB and Twitter, the roads are turning to ice, in a hurry. Met1985, we have some followers via FB stating the same rates at a degree drop every 10min. Gonna make for some dicy backroads. 9.5F atop Wayah Bald Mountain in Macon County, NC (5469'). Winds at 16mph. Mighty cold.

WilkesboroDude
Just nosed dived from 45 to 38 degrees after that mixed precipitation. Numerous reports of sleet, graupel, rain, and wind pushing east of the mountains into Wilkes and Surry County now. There will likely be school closings or delays for non mountain areas Friday morning too now.

You know, I've just come off over an inch of rain, had rolling thunder right over head that lasted minutes...most thunder I've heard overhead in years, and now some great wind blowing, easily some of the best this winter. Snow bursts above Atl. I've seen 19 and several 23's already, and some years I never get below 28/29. There have been tornadoes, I've seen some very slight sleet. Not too dang bad for a "boring" winter so far, lol. Tony
