Absolutely fooking wild out there now with this snow squall. Visibility down to a few hundred feet with strong winds and whiteout conditions. I have not seen it snow this hard in years. Some insane instability out there. I'll post some pics in a bit. At least 1.5-2" and snowing about 4" per hour in this squall.

mitch looking at radar those returns (that just edged south to lenox) have been over jiminy peak for the last two hours. they must be around 6 inches i would think

1 PM UPDATE...THERE ARE STILL SOME SCATTERED SHOWERS ACROSS SOUTHERN

NEW ENGLAND BUT MOST AREAS ARE DRY AT THIS POINT. IN ADDITION...

TEMPERATURES HAVE RISEN ABOVE FREEZING...BRINGING AN END TO ANY

FREEZING RAIN THREAT. IN THE MEANTIME...THE MAIN FRONT HAS MOVED

THROUGH MUCH OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND AS OF 17Z. BEHIND THE FRONT...

WINDS HAVE BECOME STRONGER AND QUITE GUSTY IN STRONG COLD AIR

ADVECTION AND EXCELLENT MIXING. HIGHEST WIND GUST OBSERVED THUS FAR

HAS BEEN 44 MPH AT WILLIMANTIC CT. EXPECT GUSTS AS HIGH AS 50 MPH

THIS AFTERNOON INTO THIS EVENING WITH THE STRONGEST WINDS ALONG THE

SOUTH COAST.

Scott--continue the latitude Rt 2 has east of 91 to the west of 91. I'm about 1/2 higher than that imaginary line about 8 miles west of 91 itself.

? that rte 2 line wobbles north and south more than a politican looking for election.

mike are you near coombs hill road or to the w/n/s/ or east or tower rd.

Yeah there have been a bizarre string of wind advisories/wind warnings lately. Not sure what's going on.

yesterday's was a tough one...the jet was there...but in my experience that E/SE flow will fail in that synoptic set-up as we just get an inverted profile. you get good sustained speeds with just a decent PG but minimal gusting
