Visibility down to a few hundred feet with strong winds and whiteout conditions. I have not seen it snow this hard in years. Some insane instability out there. I'll post some pics in a bit. At least 1.5-2" and snowing about 4" per hour in this squall. mitch looking at radar those returns (that just edged south to lenox) have been over jiminy peak for the last two hours. they must be around 6 inches i would think Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

IN ADDITION... TEMPERATURES HAVE RISEN ABOVE FREEZING...BRINGING AN END TO ANY FREEZING RAIN THREAT. IN THE MEANTIME...THE MAIN FRONT HAS MOVED THROUGH MUCH OF SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND AS OF 17Z. BEHIND THE FRONT... WINDS HAVE BECOME STRONGER AND QUITE GUSTY IN STRONG COLD AIR ADVECTION AND EXCELLENT MIXING. HIGHEST WIND GUST OBSERVED THUS FAR HAS BEEN 44 MPH AT WILLIMANTIC CT. Scott--continue the latitude Rt 2 has east of 91 to the west of 91. I'm about 1/2 higher than that imaginary line about 8 miles west of 91 itself. Not sure what's going on. yesterday's was a tough one...the jet was there...but in my experience that E/SE flow will fail in that synoptic set-up as we just get an inverted profile. you get good sustained speeds with just a decent PG but minimal gusting Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
