Pete is getting smoked, both at home and at 2K and MRG

LOL I was thinking that... he cannot lose in this situation.

Well in a winter devoid of significant synoptic snows, we have to take the meso-scale events and run. This is actually a fair widespread upslope event though. Anytime you have a bombing low tracking towards Vim Toot's area, you gotta be on the lookout for this especially with strong CAA and residual synoptic moisture working its way down the backside of the storm.

Throw in a strong upper level low and its game on.

Just got back form dinner downtown and champagne powder coming down! Flips between SN/SN- Greenfield getting dumped with the spillover from the Berkshires. Box should have extended the WWA b/croads are covered and slick. Down to 25F.

Haven't seen the fluffy snow in almost a year. What a great two days of overperforming winter wx!

(Sorry if i sound like Pete but I'm thrilled right now even if it's just been a few inches)

Large tree across Watch Hill Road - near the intersection of Winnapaug Road about 3:30 this afternoon. Watch Hill Road was closed for a while and there was no power along the Watch Hill Road and Oceanview Highway but I believe it has been restored.

Another Large tree down across power lines and Boombridge Road in the north end of Westerly. No power along that street as well and I believe it is still out.

More details available in the Westerly Sun.

I had a peak wind gust of 56.

Although radar indicates +SN on me, I'm actually -SN with 2 mile visibility right now. Since the radar beam intercepts the clouds about 1-2 km AGL, it sees the snow at that altitude. By the time that heavy snow from the clouds reaches the ground, it's blown a few miles downwind of where the highest reflectivities are. I was ripping really heavy about an hour ago when the max reflectivities were along the NY/MA line. Now it's probably a few miles to my east. I've seen this occur before. Very strange phenomenon, but it can happen with these upslope events, especially when winds are very strong.
