Buffalo Bumble
Roads are worse than any storm last year except for the December 1st-3rd event in the southtowns. It's downright horrible outside. Here's a shot of Wehrle Drive (Amherst). All primary roads pretty much look like this.

lakeeffectkid383
where the hell are the plow drivers? downtown streets are not even plowed lmao.. I was wondering the same thing. Cheektowaga is usally amazing in removing snow but today the main roads are snow packed with few inches and my street has about 4 " on it with some foot drifts on it. 190 To 290 ramp closed. Snowing heavy still with no signs of letting up.
BuffaloWeather
I measured more then 4 inches in 10+ locations but its so windy, almost impossible to measure. Rather annoying to not get accurate measurements, interested to see what the NWS has measured so far. Devin, remember when I stated lake enhancement might be possible? Lake Erie temperature is 40 degrees according to NWS yet its 40-43 in many locations just off shore...That must have led to just enough instability to create more enhanced snow then originally anticipated. BuffaloWeather
lol quit trolling the wivb blog. Chris is being ridiculous, hes Vito and its so blatantly obvious that I did trace route from my work. And bingo it was him. Anyways, over 4.5 inches of snow so far here still coming down moderately and wind blown. Looks like a change of wind direction coming soon that will drive Lake enhanced snow south of here. This guy is a complete tool, drives me insane sometimes haha! I could care less that I am "banned" from that blog. Don is like best friends with C from P in real life, I cannot believe he allows him to destroy that blog. He is the only one doing so. How are you guys fairing with your snow totals? See Devin it was a "boom" after all! =) (Well sorta)

I'm doing pretty well have about 4 to 4.5 inches. Airport is up to 4 inches as well. Also reporting heavy snow with visibility at 1/10 of a mile still. Need a number one center. The wind is causing drifts of well over a foot in areas. Hoping to maybe top 8 inches when all is said and done.
snowgeek
37F here with light snow showers and gusty NW winds. It's a flizzard!!!!!! Was able to sled and xc ski last night on my 3" of wet concrete. I'm hoping for a nice dusting to fill in my frozen ski tracks later today. I'm hoping to top 6" when all said and done. You'll likley be land up with more then me because that lake effect should set up right about over your area before it shifts south probably giving you a few bonus inches. lakeeffectkid383
It appears BUF has verified a blizzard. Yes we have. 4 hours + of gust of 35mph with heavy snow with visibility below 1/4 mile for 4 hours + as well. Awesome!
BuffaloWeather
It appears BUF has verified a blizzard. 6 hours of heavy snow less then 1/4 mile visibility temperatures in teens = "definition of blizzard" right?

OSUmetstud
6 hours of heavy snow less then 1/4 mile visibility temperatures in teens = "definition of blizzard" right? no temperature criterion anymore. snow and/or blowing snow with frequent gusts of 35 mph+ leading to visibility frequently 1/4 mile or less for 3 straight hours. Blizzard92
This may have been answered, but why did the Buffalo NWS not issue a blizzard warning?
Leelee
lol quit trolling the wivb blog. Be careful when doing that, guys. Don takes his blog VERY seriously and isn't joking when he says he'll contact authorities and such (even though I highly doubt they'd do anything). OSUmetstud
This may have been answered, but why did the Buffalo NWS not issue a blizzard warning? BUF is pretty notoriously stingy when it comes to blizzard warnings. 1985 was the last one for the city. They may say that the aiport is a very open area which allows for the visibility to more easily reach criterion there...like they did in January 2008 when it was reached at BUF. They'd be right on some level...I'm pretty sure my vis here is not 1/8 mile even though the snow intensity is likely about the same.
