CoastalWx
Has Russia been that warm all winter too? Torch over there as well Torch for them is like -30C..lol. I thought at least part of Russia has been cold..especially eastern Asia.
mahk_webstah
It's all about the NAO. If that is gone, we torch. ? positive anomalies in southern greenland would lead to confluence to our north and blunt the ne warm anomalies?

Tropopause_Fold
GFS redevelops the clipper now on Thursday night. Nice snow event out here. That's very similar to what the euro had depicted 3 or 4 days ago...even with that weak inverted trough iirc.

Yeah we'll obviously have to see what the other guidance does, but hopefully it's a start at something more interesting.

Damage In Tolland
Yeah we'll obviously have to see what the other guidance does, but hopefully it's a start at something more interesting. Those tend to be good from about the CT River east. I can remember several of those back in the early 2000's that gave areas like me and ORH 4-6 while DXR got next to nothing..and then a place like Foxboro jackpots with like 10..and Phil does well too
Tropopause_Fold
In this craptastic winter...that qualifies as a weenie run for days 3 to 6. Lol

If the ensembles and euro op have it too, then it's worth paying more attention to. That s/w has trended a little more negative and deeper. Yeah i didn't mean just because the GFS has it..since I don't look at it..Just going by what you and Felipe were saying..but it did dig a little more on last nite's Euro

The Saturday deal isn't far off from clipping us.
CoastalWx
LOL, the GFS op is way by itself early next week. Would be nice if it happened, but I don't think it's right.

CoastalWx
What exactly does the GFS show for early next week? It's cold instead of warm. It does eventually warm us, but it's got some good troughing.

Damage In Tolland
Euro was way warmer. But it was the first to offer the idea that next week wouldn' be as warm as some circles have been forecasting..with some cad etc
weatherMA
lol...day 5 snow storm for the mid atlantic on the gfs.
CoastalWx
But it was the first to offer the idea that next week wouldn' be as warm as some circles have been forecasting..with some cad etc But this isn't like a CAD thing. It's a big troughing that dives in and clips the ne. Bascially, the GFS op is the most aggressive with this, but I thik it may be wrong...we will see. GEFS develop the low on Thursday night overhead instead of se. At least it did move se to a position overhead. It also has the low Saturday but further north and warmer to a position well south on 40N parallel.Would be maybe a little snow to mix.
Clinch Leatherwood
But it was the first to offer the idea that next week wouldn' be as warm as some circles have been forecasting..with some cad etc Not really. There's been several GFS runs dating back to a couple of days ago that had given a big red flag to warming after the 20th. Euro was in la la land.
