Now, if you are asking me which season was more mundane, than it is this year....no question.

But 2010 was more frustrating for me.

We both almost never had the chance to see 10-11, that we are forever grateful for. Hopefully somehow we get a -NAO in Feb for a week to help deliver a great storm at least. but if not  oh well.

It's funny that the ensembles try to bring back the ridge the retros into ne Siberia. We'll have to see what that, or any semblance of ridging does down the road. But in the mean time..it may get ugly...real ugly after the 22nd for a time.

What is ugly about sunny, 60* days when it isn't snowing, anyway....this week is what is ugly.

Yeah, but I'm talking about the region as a whole. I couldn't tell you if we'll be CAD or 60F..just saying it looked ugly.

I hear him though. I'm certainly not looking forward to walking around in bitter conds all weekend with frozen bare ground. Useless. Except I can venture closer to waterways because at least the dog won't be able to jump in so easily....

I dunno, Scott - I commiserate with you gang, but that's about as far as goes with me. I really am not that put out by it. I do a lot of outdoor stuff that I probably couldn't do with snow on the ground.

I love a good storm like the next guy, of course. But it's different for me, and it doesn't affect my mood in that same way.

Look on the bright side, the means could be wrong... I is, after all, a continuity break ;)

It's almost funny to me though how last week on this day there was even a palpable giddiness about the prospect of a pattern change - to mention yesterday's deal.

As the proverbial sad trumpet sounds: "Wah wah waaaaaaaah". LOL Wow, how's that pattern change working out, a? ahahahahaha

I don't mind that, instead of like 35F and fog. I see Ray's argument too. He doesn't want to be teased by areas just nw of him getting 4-5" of snow, while he has slush on the Celica spoiler. It doesn't bother me as much...probably because I'm farther away.

You're not fooling anybody with this "I don't care if it snows or not " act. The fact is you do love snow and winter storms and have been/are very affected by this winter. Trying to make others feel inferior because they love snow and are upset by the snowless winter when you are one of the biggest snow weenies on the board is very transparent.

That year was definately worse, what did it for me was the "snowicane" that had heavy snow to our southwest and west and a north to south rain/snow line near the NY new england border.

The only thing it lets you do, is walk or run on the pavement. You can't play sports on any ground...except maybe basketball on asphalt, but that's about it. It's useless this time of year. Who the heck wants to see dead, brown ground.

Yeah you and I can't be upset about others getting snow or we'd have killed ourselves considering our location. I knew this winter would be a dead ratter, stated it, and then changed. Lyin' f u cking squirrels!

The whole winter, Kevin gave me crap because I was talking about what could go wrong..as it was hinted. Yellow flags FTW.

That's not the point..You do it all the time , in every season, in every pattern.,. You were doing it last winter too. It's not a big deal..it's just your nature..You are careful. You drive 65 and not a mile over

Exactly. Which is why if it goes into the 60s, at least it an be enjoyed as it feels nice.

Everytime he posts one of those condescending diatribes, I think back to his Boxing day breakdown and the V-day suicide post

That's the thing. I like a good winter. I enjoy forecasting it and watching it fall. This isn't thrown at Tip...but anyone trying to take the high road and saying they don't mind boring, dull, dead weather in the middle of winter is full of it. It's a defense mechanism that people do. I have no problem saying the pattern blows and I hate it. Hell, Wes even said it. If I look like a weenie complaining, then so be it. At least I tell it how it is.

No I don't....I was ballz to the wall last winter. Of course someone has to counter your warlock posts about massive blizzards paralyzing the area. I tell you what is right or wrong with the pattern.

This winter, I...we all spoke about what could go wrong..with pretty strong wording.

Last year stopped just before it could get truly epic. My Met buddy and I were commenting at one point how something always seems to happen to stop the big eras from going over the top.

I figure for Middlesex county that's right around 35 ...maybe 40" on the level, before the proverbial asteroid impacts. Or at least in all the big winter in my time I can recall, that seems to be a ceiling. Last year was a perfect example. Just nicked 36" on the level in Ayer ...then, it was like watching Dan Marino still trying to play after double Achille's Tendon rupture and surgury....painful watching that career die. We'd melt off 4" and get a couple maybe 3 back, then 5" melted....2 back, 4 melted, 3 back.... After 8 cycles and 4 weeks I had 3" of granular gunk in my lawn - that whole cycle down was pretty much the month of February. Then as we all know, March stood up to the recent 10 year's worth of spring climo by doing nothing.

I had long since checked out, by that point...I was done at the end of January...everyone kept telling me about this "epic stretch with plenty of chances"....I brushed it off with a one-liner about a beast of a man in a shed and the rest was history.
