This was one of those midday surprise snows that really could have done a number on the DC commute had it been 5 degrees colder. Seems like at least 2 inches could have accumulated from 3 to 6 in DC had it been 30 instead of 35. And with no one expecting it, would have been a mess.

And just like that. Amongst all the angst and despair.....people saying it would be a shutout this year......no chance of snow before mid-month and maybe not till Feb........68 degrees and shorts on Saturday........and we book our first accum snow of the winter.

Next!

No. Some of us are still waiting impatiently.

The snow was pretty. Hard to believe that little bit disrupted traffic all over.

You should see what it did to air traffic. they were rushing around getting the deicing trucks fired up aruond 330pm to start de icing as the snow as coming down at a good clip and sticking to the planes.

Great pics Marked8, Andy , Daniel and others, looks great around centreville/clifton was the jackpot.

Didn't you get like 8" in the October storm?

True, and I'm greatful for it, but that seems like it was an entire winter ago. I viewed that as a freak bonus fall snow. Now that we are in the heart of winter, any God fearing weenie would welcome some white. Outside of a couple of heavy dustings (about 1.5-2inches inches combined) that melted within a few hours, we are snowless this Met winter season. I still hold out hope for February, but expect nothing from January.

thanks Ian. It was tough to photograph this event due to the intensity but when it came down it came down. Yeah you guys defintely did better there than OCT and we were vice versa better in Oct storm here than today. I ran over to the windows every so often while working to get some of those shots of course it was the busiest time of the day too. Doh!! Your Cleveland Park photo was a good one with the lights. Is that with the anti shaking camera?

Ill take whatever wx ma nature wants to throw our way, it is always interesting to me.

I m pissed that I have two dust particles inside my camera that I cant get rid of. Irritates me and I guess now i have to bring it in for a cleaning. You cant use compressed air for that can you? I dont want to ruin it in any way. You can see the two dots in some of the pics.

naa, it was with my iphone. i took my cam out after walking the dog but got to where i was going and realized part of the ballhead of my tripod was still in the bag at home so had to scrap. up at the top of the hill the trees were still caked compared to down where i am so wanted a shot of that. alas not worth walking back to a third time to get the shot... :P

for dust: something like this will work to remove it or move it to a new spot. ;)http://www.amazon.co...y/dp/B000XM12WU they sell wipes as well but ive never really done much to clean the sensor as it's fragile of course. if it's not a big speck of dust decreasing the f-stop below f/8 or f/7.1 or so should minimize it if not remove it entirely. they show up easier if you shoot smaller aperture (f/8-f/10+ etc). it's not terribly hard to remove in photoshop either.

only you would notice that shyt, Dave. Those pics look good to my untrained eye. Nice pics by many for an over performer storm.

I will go with what DCA has for snow as I can't legitimately call it one full inch.

I cropped out some of the ones that had the 2 dust spots prior to posting them so you wouldnt see them but you can clearly see them in a few of the others I posted on Facebook too tonight, but thanks bro.

Yes a lot of good pics in the thread for this little system. It aint much but take whatever she wants to throw at us.

Ok see that was a lot of foreign language there :) You lost me with the f/8. f-stop, etc. Ive heard of that before but not sure what it exactly means, I dont want to go to Off Topic though in this thread. I will check the amazon link, thx :)

How do you get your cell phone camera pics to look like that? That is so crystal clear and crisp looking. I guess Im just to shaky and my cell phone pics come out real grainy if I do an up close photo. oh well, your pics are still the sh*t. Awesome.
