CoastalWx
Second wave develops and gives some more snow for the interior afterwards on Friday. That came a little south too, but hasn't been agreed on in guidance.

Ginx snewx
Nice 850 inflow, precip might be juicer than depicted, pretty potent Vort max.
CoastalWx
GFS has strong frontogenesis and somewhat unstable layer for Friday. Kind of classic frontal or anafrontal look.
ineedsnow
agree this run so far is almost to perfect Lets wait until euro before getting too happy.
Logan11
So the 12Z GFS is in the process of sliding everything too far out to sea for us in ENY and WNE ...beautiful.... The question is ..will cold air ever mix with moisture in the winter of 11-12? I agree.
CoastalWx
The friday event may be more GC and ORH north as modeled, but it did trend south too. Probably all related to Thursday event.
dryslot
Well we will see, but not bad seeing the GFS be a little south. Not buying it, Plays into its bias being SE, We will see where the euro goes, Right between the nam and gfs track would work
Tropopause_Fold
the hope will be that the vortmax continues to dampen out as it comes out of the southern states and passes SE of us. if it ends up stronger it probably tucks this a bit west. but having this thing weaken as it enters the shear zone/cheese grinder that's temporarily to our NE helps us out a lot....well not me...but a chunk of SNE. Yeah we know what has been the tendency with southern stream vorts, but the confluence to the north helps. I could almost envision a snow grain/FZDZ deal in between systems for some as well. 40/70 Benchmark
I have to say we see the phrase"esp. north of the pike" tossed around so often..esp this winter..and so far it hasn't mattered one iota . If this one is to be wintry at all I 'm not sure if we have to use that term. That phrase annoys me more than anything else does on this board. I cringe when I see people use that. It's like someone scraping nails on a chalkboard Nothing has, we haven't seen any events, aside from the OCT fluke.

OceanStWx
Yeah we know what has been the tendency with southern stream vorts, but the confluence to the north helps. I could almost envision a snow grain/FZDZ deal in between systems for some as well. I noticed that too as I was going through some sounding analyses the past couple of days. I got bumped to short term duties today though, so the storm is out of my range.
dryslot
wonder what the mets will do with their noon forecast? Why would they do anything other then placing a low percentage on a chance of snow? Its only 1 model run
CoastalWx
Not ready to buy it, yet. I think if the euro continues the trend, it's time to consider it. Not go in head first, but put it on the table.

mattlacroix4
I can't believe the model changes with this storm..wow. Now look at the action that comes in with the front too. mahk_webstah
lol on the caution. we are so wounded! it may not work out, sometimes they don't ... but the trends are much more than one model run....and coming at the right time. it is time for some general excitement andinterest.
