tornadotony
It's hard to believe it's been four years. I still remember chasing this day in north central IL. We were forced to depart too late to get the newsmaker supercell near the IL/WI border, but nearly got blown off the road by the LEWP that formed to its south. A truly rare and fascinating event. http://www.crh.noaa.gov/lot/?n=20080107tor http://www.crh.noaa.gov/mkx/?n=010708_tor http://www.crh.noaa.gov/sgf/?n=010808_tornadoes
JoMo
Yep, I remember that down here, really strange event with training supercells along the front with not much eastward movement.
andyhb
One of the bigger SPC underestimations of the last several years.
Geos
I remember that day vividly. I live only 15 miles from the tornado that touched down in Wheatland, WI. Saw the damage the next day first hand. Some well-built homes were leveled. The tornado path crossed my typical driving route to campus. Luckily it wasn't the spring semester yet, so I wasn't in that area at the time. It was crazy seeing snow piles and tornado damage at the same time!
