CT Rain
Now that is what we're talking about. More please And now there's nothing else to discuss. Those are the 2 threats... outside of the dates there's not much else to say.

CoastalWx
Hes keying in on the wave swinging around that trough depending on its exact orientation (who the hell knows what that will be with this chaotic storm mid-week)...The 12z gfs has this shortwave at the base of the negatively tilted trough 00z the 13th..it tries to get some light snow going on the mid-atl coast in later frames on this run, but it is a little too close to the departing storm to really do much...something to definitely watch though...there's also the other shortwave coming down the trough on the 14th to watch. This was an awesome run of the gfs in my opinion for cold and threats Yeah the pattern after that storm lifts out marks the change..or perhaps I should say..the changes occur as the storms develops and moves through. That garbage AK vortex is giving us the middle finger with the low next week.
Clinch Leatherwood
Shouldn't this type of stuff be in the banter thread. I think so. I think the comments about the emotional state resulting from forecasts should be in the banter thread. But I'd be all for Bob putting about 75% of what was posted today in the banter threads where it belongs., JMHO. Warm sunny weather like today makes me happy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2AbxQ2Q4HeU
Collinsville
We had a snowless Dec and first half of Jan 5 years ago? I honestly do not remember that Sadly yes, I did not record measurable snow at all until Jan 18, 2007 and that was only 0.5", the first "worthwhile" accumulation was 2.9" on Feb 2nd. 1999-2000 was very similar. I had a freak 1" on Nov 30, 1999 but then a complete shutout until Jan 13, 2000.

I don't dare comment when something is active, but now I'm sure nobody really cares. I agree - make the most out of this sunshine. Off to the range! OSUmetstud
BUF and ROC have managed neutral departures during the first 5 days of the month..but obviously we're going positive today through day 6 or so.
NorEaster27
Is this thread on the storm next week? Anyway, if we can get this to cut far enough west, that may open the door to somekind of miller B threat over the weekend.

OSUmetstud
in some respect, the storm on day 5 to 6 along with the cold from northern storm is kind of a "false" pattern change...it's the result of a transient +PNA ridge and not the larger pattern change of getting rid of the AK vortex which happens a few days later. CoastalWx
Euro has a nice gradient low coming after the 15th. That's the white or fright storm. Overall I would say we should be happy things out trending to colder and pattern of increased chances. Will it be very snowy..I don't know...but the chances of snow will surely be icnreased. NorEaster27
GFS and Euro are awful for the ski resorts a day before the holiday weknd, all the progress of the past week and a half will be lost. Next weeks storm is definitely not good and really has not been good all along it is going to hurt a lot of areas, Ski areas are taking it on the chin this year with marginal natural snow as they have lost out on revenue in there critical school vacation time that just can't be made up.
