I hate to be a weenie - but is tonight's snow chance a real possiblity? I usually give my boss a heads up on these things, just in case travel is terrible in the morning.

i'd say it's likely we'll see some snow given the support and the two decent tracks with the shortwaves.. may not be much but it's been cold so it could accum fairly easy if we get any good rates. i doubt it would be much though.

It's pretty likely that we get some snow falling out of the sky. Any real impact? Probably not unless it comes down pretty good for more than 20 mins.

It's ULL every swinging through and not just lake streamers. All the models are picking up on it. It's plenty cold so even a 1/4" could have some impact on the streets.

Edit: I was a minute late. What ian said.

Cool - thanks. I saw your tweet, and ended up sending an email, more than just snow talk in it.

i'd think most spots would be dusting to a slight measurable but the second vort has a bit more oomph to it. if it came together right someone could get 1" perhaps.

Presently LWX is pretty much saying flurries.

Also, Didn't a few spots in that super band last night get close to an inch?

Yes they did, but without putting words in Ian's mouth i think he saying whatever ends up falling will be more widespread than yesterday.

i doubt they could put much if any accum in the zones but flurries seems low given the various models showing potential. i hear up to 2" with that band.. but that was LES and this is synoptic.

If for some reason we don't go above freezing today then that would make it a solid stretch of time below freezing so anything that falls would have a real strong chance of creating some issues on the roads....not sure of any ratios but I would assume all levels are well below freezing so there should be some good snow growth...but anywho....a dusting would be fantastic and a good start to whatever winter is left for us

Good point. Even so, seems like decent model agreement for something tonight. Maybe some semi-widespread half inch reports?

well I know a dusting caused some issues on the roads near me yesterday evening.

some concern the air is still rather dry and not a ton of forcing. but it's supposed to moisten up from here out and already is i suppose.

True, but I don't consider myself a horrible driver and I hit some slicks spots that caused my car to skid.

That's what you think :devilsmiley:

Just kidding. - Getting a little OT here but I was driving during one of the snow showers yesterday and 3 or 4 fire trucks/ambulances were coming down the road and some woman pulls right out in front of them (she definitely saw and heard them) and gets clipped by a fire truck. She leaned on the horn and gave the fire fighters the finger...............people these days.
