PhineasC
My original grillcover blew away when I was down in Miami FL for new years...actually. I guess your roof is torn off by high winds at least 2 or 3 times a year?

PhineasC
you should know the answer being an engineer and all I am sort of curious as to why more atmospheric scientists haven't been studying the wind microclimate around your house. I wonder what causes these rogue gusts that affect only you and no one else? Perhaps some kind of enhanced pressure gradient between your driveway and the street? Either quote some specific examples or just stfu, really. The meaningless, unsubstantiated trolling has run it's course.
CranberryWX
The day is starting off chilly at 20. Another wind advisory for this afternoon as the front comes through. Seems like just a few days ago my forecast high for Sunday was 34, now it's 50.
Ellinwood
HRRR brings some snow showers into our region along the cold front this evening: Surface temps: Perhaps a quick dusting in the DC/MD region if the surface temps cooperate... northern WV and MD panhandle upslope areas could see up to an inch. PhineasC
Hope the cabin holds up thru it. In all seriousness, the wind has been pretty bad up here the last two days. Very gusty up on the ridge.
WVclimo
High clouds coming in from the west now, but the clear skies since sunset have allowed the temp to drop to 36. Front is 60-90 minutes west of here, but looks pretty good on radar.
WVclimo
Front is here already. Winds just ramped up quickly, gusting above 30. The sky to my NNW is illuminated from the lights at Whitetail, and the clouds look like they do when a summer thunderstorm is moving in.
PhineasC
Heavy squalls here. Maybe an inch? Impossible to know with the wind.
brad1551
Seems like I get all the wind events on trash night/day. When I come home from college or work I am playing the game, where is Waldo with my trash can top. I would like too play where is Waldo with my snow shovel. LOL! WVclimo
Compressional heating with the approach of the front mixed out all the low-level cold that had built up with the radiational cooling earlier. Have jumped from 35.7 to 42.7, about where it was late this afternoon. Precip on the doorstep.

WVclimo
Rain changing over to snow here now. Temp falling a degree every 4-5 minutes. Still too warm to stick. Winds generally 20-30 mph.

midatlanticweather
Oh man! West to east movement! I am wondering if we get a DC split! Let's see! Faquier will get it and Montgomery county but me in Sterling and even in DC may get robbed! Unless we get new development or enhancement east of the mountains! But I have that feeling - it is a feeling now, and I may be wrong, but I have seen it in many summertime squalls. Jimmy
midatlanticweather
Actually, not as impressive as I thought. looked at it on 2 different radars.. one had me more hooked that something may fall, the other looks pitiful.
WVclimo
as I noted, 44 at the last reading for KMRB, and it is now sticking to grass. wvclimo noted from his wx station ~10 miles N of me that once the front came in the temps have been dropping steadily. I don't fabricate obs. By the time the temp dropped enough here, the heavier echoes from the squall line had slipped south of me. You were in the better rates longer. I got a cartop dusting, but that's about it. Fun night to watch though. 7:00 clear skies and 36, 9:00 rain and 43, now light snow and 34.
