Grothar of Herndon
Here is picture of my back yard. Friday night received 0.75" of snow then sleet and then some freezing rain into early Saturday morning. It is a very crunchy surface on the deck and in the yard. Light flurries and now light snow just whitening it up a little.

mitchnick
haven't been reading much so maybe it's been mentioned (possibly 100x the way this winter has gone!) already that the GFS had the 850line droping south of us with so light qpf today into tonight fwiw

The 925mb temp will be the thing to watch in the short term. GFS has the 925mb temp warming to above freezing for most of the region (outside of the mountains) by around midnight. BethesdaWX
Apparantly its 28 but there is some melting going on (sun through clouds?) anyways no drizzle or snow yet. It is the process of sublimation. Rooftops are another story as heat from the house melts the snow from the bottom up.

Love it. 10 days back the long range (I know it is fantasy) was for possible 70+ for the high this weekend. The reality of cold, snow, ice, flurries, sleet, freezing rain, freezing mist, freezing fog, etc. is wonderful.
