So I think probably 50% or a little more of the LWX area has seen 1" of snow this winter total? Much of north VA and WVA panhandle have at least 1". The northern and western burbs of Baltimore have 1" total (Frederick, Carroll and northern Baltimore counties). I think the laggards are DC proper, and then the I-95 corridor from DC-Balt and extending NE from there into Harford county. Southern and northern extremes of that area are not far from 1" total, but the middle area (Howard, northern AA county, Balt city and southern Balt county) are still <0.5".

Does that sound about right?

Sounds good for my backyard - I have 1" thus far

I can confirm that just northwest of Baltimore city has not seen an inch yet. We got a coating from each of the October 29th and January 3rd systems, but nothing much at all on the January 9th system. I'd have to say that BWI's .4 inches on the 9th is about double what I've seen.

Probably. The colder areas obviously cashed in from the October storm (and some with a lot more than 1"), while DC southward did well in that JB 1-2" event. Some others may have gotten lucky in a hit or miss snow shower, but otherwise many have seen next to nothing.

As for me? 1.4" in October, plus a light dusting or two from snow showers.

You love snow only when it falls, otherwise you will take the torch.

that's pretty rational for where i live. snow is gross about 36 hours after it falls here. i dont own a ski resort so why would i want it to be cold all the time?

Not an inch here.

A few miles WSW of the Beltway, I'm at around 1.5", so that sounds right from my perspective.

Pretty awesome winter so far.

Rain here too

Same. 37* and .05 in the guage.

It is different seeing Allegany and Mineral county under a WWA and not Garrett county. Not that it will matter much out there it will all change to rain but some of the colder hollows in Bedford Co, PA, Allegany co, MD and Mineral Co, WV may get a ever so slight sleet accumulation out there.

My back yard i.e. Reisterstown/Glyndon = 0.5 to 0.8 inch for the season. During colder and more

snowy winters, the well used trails such as the North Central Trail in Baltimore County have significant

intervals with treacherous footing due to snow, ice and crust that persist in the shaded areas for days and

often for weeks. This phenomenon is absent; it is as if we have an extended autumn season.
