Ellinwood
as many times as the computers showed we had a chance, because he went all in every time with the snowiest solution, at least from what I read Certainly seems like it to me. I've been on his case more than once this season about it, which is probably a little unfair, but he's been consistently over-forecasting the southern edge of accumulation (especially in the Baltimore metro area) for just about every "event" this winter. SomeguyfromTakomaPark
Whitegrass says 3 inches overnight. I'm afraid they won't get much more today, trying to decide whether the skiing will be worth the 4 hour drive.

Could you update a few times throughout the day if possible? I think 6 inches total from the event will my cutoff that will make a trip to Whitegrass worthwhile. SomeguyfromTakomaPark
Why's that? I think they'll do pretty well today. You think so? I know its really hard to follow whats going on via radar but this discussion had me wondering... ...THAT IS ROTATING SOUTHEASTWARD ACROSS EASTERN OHIO THIS MORNING WILL SUPPORT MORE WIDESPREAD SNOW SHOWERS FOR THE REST OF THE MORNING...WILL KEEP ADDITIONAL ACCUMULATION AROUND 1 TO 2 INCHES...WITH SLIGHTLY HIGHER AMOUNTS ON THE RIDGES. I'll be shocked (and disappointed) if we don't end up with at least 6" total. Probably pushing 4" right now (tough to tell with all the blowing and drifting). PIT and LWX calling for 2 to 4 today and 1 to 2 for tonight, and they are rarely too high with these sorts of events. In any event, with as crappy of a winter as this has been, you may want to enjoy what you can, even if its not optimal mid-winter conditions. das
Doesn't look like a flake fell in here.....shocker. I am always shocked at the climatological (and corresponding sensible weather) difference between Frederick and here in Clarksburg up on Parr's Ridge. While I didn't see it myself, my 11 year-old had no problem waking me in the pre-dawn hours while it was falling asking if school was going to be cancelled. Apparently, it was coming down pretty good. Here's a pic from what remained at 7am:

Mrs.J
Was woken at 1am this morning to what sounded like nails being thrown at the back of the house. I believe we had some sleet mixing with the rain, and the wind was driving it onto the back of the house. The wind is insane, was fighting with the wheel while running erands. My sister who lives in Columbus, OH told me that they have a snow day. She said it is not because of a large amount of snow but the fact that it is blowing all over and the roads cannot be kept clear.
BethesdaWX
The wind has become very loud over the past 10 minutes, initially thought it was heavy airplane traffic from DCA.
