Yeah it did, and the WRF NMM still brings us a chance overnight into early morning, but my confidence isn't too high with it. What do you think?

actually the next vort looks pretty impressive on ir to me.. or at least more so than the first. i think it might do it... but i doubt i'll stay up to see.

Though radar needs to start at least improving a little bit shortly. Looks very underwhelming right now.

yeah tho 12z nam radar was dead through about 5z then it started "blowing up" over the eastern side of the apps etc. there is more moisture available now.. the vortmax track just looked more iffy in later runs.

Trying to decide how I feel about staying up so late last night for the dumb Quadrantids...don't think I can pull two really late nights. Somebody should come to my house and ring my doorbell nonstop if it starts snowing.

Light dusting in North-Eastern Maryland; radar looks like we have about another 25 minutes or so of snow here. Very light dusting, cars/sidewalk/tips of grass covered. Nice to see, most including myself thought this little passing vort was going to get eaten up by dry air.

Bel Air, MD this morning about 5am...

Since this seems to be a widespread source of confusion...from an official meteorological reporting perspective, a trace of snow or rain is ONE observed snowflake/raindrop up to as many as can occur without .01" of liquid getting into the bucket or 0.1" of snow on the ground. You don't need a dusting or to be able to see it on the ground for a trace.

I actually do know that, but since I would have been asleep for Schrödinger's snowflake, I would have needed something on the ground when I took the dog for a walk (6:00 am) to prove that I had actually received snow overnight. As such, no need to update my sig!

Good to know. Thanks.
