Bob Chill
it's go time Are you thinking a trace or .1"? I'm going all in with .1" even though LWX said it would only happen at higher elevs. I wonder if schools will be open?
clskinsfan
Well, Winchester and Frederick County, VA schools were closed today for about an inch and a half. I will say the roads were horrible last night. Had neighbors that it took 2 hours to go 1.5 miles on route 7 last night. Over 20 cars in a ditch up the road from here. No one was expecting the snow last night and it showed. Looks like were about to get hit again tonight. Looks like some 30 DBZ over Frederick and heading towards Leesburg. Where is JI? http://radar.weather...101111&loop=yes

Ian
tho right now the second wave seems plenty north and models tend to still have a south bias in the short term so maybe we'll still get both

Hot Springs, VA, now with S-, not surprising with their elevation though.

TUweathermanDD
No local obs of snow right around the metros though right? Well radar is first firing on base so none yet but should be some soon with heavier returns breaking out.

Ian
I've been under returns for 2 hours and zero snowflakes. low dewpoints have consequences. no forcing has way more consequence. if the air was fully saturated we might be getting 1-2 flakes per hour in the lighter rates. http://www.wundergro...eq_statename=NA
weathervswife
Nothing hitting the ground in the heavy stuff around Charlottesville.....Dewpoint is 11 btw, so no coincidence.
Jebman
Warm advection is amazing Temps continue a slow steady rise even at night 33 degrees with a 24 dewpoint I expect to see 40 degrees by midnight I hate La Nina, but we're going to save on road salt and heating bills this "winter". Perhaps all the millions of dollars we will save in this mild snowless winter could be used to help pare down this monstrous deficit
Kmlwx
Nothing hitting the ground in the heavy stuff around Charlottesville.....Dewpoint is 11 btw, so no coincidence. Also - the beam from the radar is hitting the precip at a higher elevation than places closer to the radar site.
