BIG FROSTY
Why was JB wrong so much this winter? Ancient aliens! I've yet to figure out where he's been wrong for the SE? He said mild and pretty much snowless in the SE back in Nov.... Now he has said recently Feb would be below normal in the east.. Guess we will have to judge him on that in about a month! It's going to take a heck of a turn around for him to bust on his SE forecast this winter!!! I really hope he bust in the se that means snow... No doubt he's busted in the Mid Atlantic and NE alot this winter.
POWERSTROKE
I really thought the JB thread was a bad idea when it was posted...now that we have a month's worth of posts in there I find it quite entertaining, worthy of reading from top to bottom...even if you have been in there before. I am amazed people pay money to this guy especially with some of the talent around here. His opinions are as good as yours especially this year. Nobody has got the winter forecast right so he is as wrong as others however he did say in August we would not get much in the south or southeast so I would say so far he has been dead on pretty much. Yes he has changed his forecast but go back to what he said before winter and he has nailed it. But who really cares who is wrong or right as I hadn't seen any snow from anybody's forecast. I laugh every time people talk about him. Everybody wants to bash him because he charges for his site. Like I have said before my company pays for it so I write it off my taxes. A big $200.00 for the year. That's really going to break me!!!
tnweathernut
For anyone that wonders why DT doesn't really post in here anymore, just go check out his facebook page (wxrisk) where he calls other professionals "idiots" and what not. Read the comments, they are pretty comical. My guess is that his report card in his elementary years included comments like "does not play well with others"

FoothillsNC
If anyone in NC is a member of an electric co-op and recieve the Carolina Country magazine, check out the February edition. In the " I Remember" section there is a story about a man who grew up in Watauga County and he was telling his story of the 1960 snow there. He said that food drops were made via helicopters and everyone went to Boone just to see the helicopters. He also said that the residents there felt they didn't need any help. I know someone a few months back mentioned the food drops on here. Just thought it was a cool read especially since that particular year has been brought up alot. would love to get my hands on that. You can go to the following link to read their issues online: http://www.carolinacountry.com/curmag/past/past.html They only have up through January 2012 at the moment, but I imagine February will be added soon. You can preview the entire mag in a pdf version on that site. Just keep checking back until February is added.

Jon
I'll ask my family about it and see if I can get any info. My grandfather's side of the family is from Ashe Co... I'm not sure if they experienced it but I'm sure they knew people who did. Anyone got a snowfall map? lol http://www2.journalnow.com/news/2010/feb/10/1960-blizzard-set-standard-for-snow-in-nc-mountain-ar-387680/
superjames1992
If State beats UNC tonight, there will be plenty of snow for all of us (outside of Chapel Hill) in February and March!!! Well, get ready for lots of hot weather mixed with some cold rain because it isn't happening!!!

LithiaWx
I personally think BethesdaWx is a smart guy but I also think he is dead wrong and is way too wrapped up in this idea. It's borderline crazy tbh. But if you want a good read/laugh read his thoughts on Feb and March. He has a theory (he invented himself) about the sun and how it relates to ENSO and weather patterns. Cliff notes version is he thinks DC is buried under 20-40 inches of snow before winter is over.

Bethesda is notorious for dramatically overexagerrating OBS reports, so he may get 40" of snow before winter is over in his backyard, even if DCA and IAD receive <10". POWERSTROKE
First of all he says his opinions but everybody bashes him when he is wrong. What about this year? Look at all the winter forecast on the forum and who has been right? I don't see bashing them. He is worldwide so when he is wrong he gets bashed. Funny thing he has been talking about next weekend and there after for almost 3 weeks and everybody said he is wrong again. And will you look at the models including King Euro? I could careless if he is right or wrong just interesting reading just like all others. As long as we get snow I don't care who is right or wrong

As long as we get snow I don't care who is right or wrong This should probably go into the JB thread, but the big problem is not with what he says so much as how he says it. I'm in marketing and Social Media Marketing. Believe me when you tweet to make money you spend time thinking about how you are going to say something. His are marketing 101 oversell to maximize visibility. He is great at that. He gives people just enough to get them interested in buying a subscription. So of course anytime you do something like whether it's with a product or weather many people are going to expect what you sell them on. Fortunately for him it's weather and no one expects perfection....but again it's how he says it. That's the problem. Instead of saying, "possible cold coming let's see where it goes" he says, "so much for the warm cold air def. coming for all Eastern US get ready for major blast..global warming a total bust"...again this is to drum up business and nothing more believe me it's Twitter marketing 101. TW He was talking about how Strat warming in Dec. was going to totally make Jan the return of winter in the east. Whoops. Now he is going on about how it backed away and is coming back so for sure going to happen in Feb. Again it might and it might not but how he teases things just is out of control.
