This storm looked just as intense (if not more so) about 20 minutes ago. Not sure why the SVR now

as opposed to earlier.

Ah, I knew there had to be a reason they went with the SVR when they did (455 pm):

0450 PM

HAIL 4 NW FINGERVILLE E1.00 INCH SPARTANBURG COUNTY

As the storm entered Forest City, I saw a small hook appear on the southern edge of it. I thought that it did not

have enough rotation for a tornado at first (517 EST loop), but after reviewing the velocity data, the circulation

looked to become g2g between 524 and 527 EST. It wasn't very clear, but NEXRAD does not scan the surface

as everyone knows. It was apparent GSP saw it too, because their SVS at 529 mentioned rotation in the storm.

Also, the tornado was reported 4 miles west of Polkville, which matches the location of Salem Church Rd.

I am counting on my 45 degree reading to eat this tornado warning alive. I see it is a toasty 60 near Shelby.

I think you will be safe...lightning intensity has decreased, shear markers are also weaker than say 20 minutes ago.

UPDATE: lightning has picked up again...

Thanks for posting this NJ. It helped my wife understand why a warning was not posted until 5:35. Good stuff! Heading out in a few to check....
