Looks very similar to here...you have like 8" or so? Being tucked up against the spine on the east side FTW.

32F with -SN. Starting to stick to the cars and deck.

8-10" a little more with elevation. Quite underwhelming as January snowpacks go but it beats the brown grass that Scooter is looking at. Sled trails and x-country trails are in good shape but I'm staying off the downhill routes I've got cut. Hoping for a refresher or two here soon.

Nice...how much do you have there? Looks to me like 6-7" or so. I've got a patchy 2" or so here as the torch really did a number on it. West slope torch FTL. We were in the mid to upper 40s yesterday afternoon and evening while you were still close to freezing. I still have about 70-75% coverage, but most of what's left is the icy, sleet laden snow from the 1/12 event. Pretty much all the snow from the 1/13 upslope and 2 minor events from last week is gone. Hoping we can have a net gain on Thursday night, but I don't know.

Hi Mitch, we were very lucky to hold the cold air through the night and into this morning. When I left for work early this AM we were still at 32 and glazing.I was on the west side down in Lee at lunch time and it wasn't pretty. It made me uncomfortable to see some bare spots near the MA Pike so I fled back into the hills as soon as I could. The snowpack here is stout and the east slope always retains the snow remarkably well. I always laugh when Blizz calls for GC to lose the snowpack because of a few days that crack 32. I'm hoping for more Thursday night and beyond.

It's the snow he shook off his hair.

So jealous.

Yes. Have some pre trip jitters. We're going to do some intense stuff and the avy danger is very real. Hoping CAAVU conditions dominate, the retrograding low should help. Having trouble sleeping as I start thinking about what's coming up and my adrenaline starts flowing. That's what being an adrenaline junkie is all about.

Be careful. Ridge may mean milder wx and perhaps AV danger.

Leaves and grass clippings I had mixed in the soil last fall already paying dividends, shovel went through the soil this morning like butter. Back garden had a layer of frozen earth in the shade about 1 inch thick should be able to turn that by tomorrow. Soil is rich and full of nutrients this year, cant wait for the veggie garden later this spring going to add a few new things which I am very excited about!

I hope everyone get s a chance to get out and enjoy this very spring like day!! Back to the tilling!

no frost in the ground here also. daffodils out of the ground a good two inches. many more days like yesterday and they will be blooming in February

It's time to realize February is going to be mostly ugly, hopefully we can salvage 1/3 of the month.

The coldanistas had an epic fail this winter.

hey messenger... totally off-topic from this banter thread, but if you have any photos from ground zero january 2005, i'm sure many would be eager to see them in the blizzard 2005 thread

Man, a lot of good people are going to take a hit this weekend up in ski country, just an awful run up there on the Euro. I have not checked lately regarding snow mobile trails and such, I know as of a couple weeks ago they were still closed. Sports shops/stores selling ski snowboarding items are hurting, local hardware stores are hurting, not selling salt or shovels or snowblowers, so this sucktastic winter effects a lot of people but especially up north where for many its there livelyhood.

Hopefully things look up for them approaching Feb break.

Looks like maybe in a week we see some opportunities...torchafloodsky in the meantime. Access roads to the ski areas will be salt free.

27. Flurries. Quite breezy. Access roads will be free of salt. Why would you even think about something like that.Pffft.

27, flurries. Very breezy . Why would someone even think about salt or the lack thereof on access roads to ski areas? I guess that's what coastal people think about.

LOL, Post the same thing twice day?

I did post a bunch back in 2005, will have to go back and look but it won't be today as one kid just came home sick. I think Don S has a bunch of mine somewhere.

+20 yesterday. I'm not sure what people were expecting from the torch, +30?

Today is cold and Boston is already +5 on the days high at 11am.

thanks... obviously no rush, hope your kid is ok!

any photos would be awesome. your original posts were probably on EasternUSWx... I just logged in to Eastern and archives only go back to Jan 2006.
