hmm not really sure what this means, I gain 25 minutes of daylight by jan 31, ground hog day is a couple weeks away, and my low of 38 last night was 15 degrees above normal?? Perhaps I should call for 4-8 with lollies to ten every storm then I could be kewl. Facts are not welcome here.

Just getting a chuckle out of your warminista talking points. Lots of winter in the offing, beginning Thursday.

Boston's high for today is 51, Providence 52, Worcester 46 all of these may have gone higher in between the hourly readings I'm not sure. What are the most recent departures for the month?

With a 45 mph cold front all we've done is usher in near normal air. Viva la torch.

Most stations are between +4 and +4.5 on the month...we'll probably be around +3 on the month with about a week left by next week. This will be a pretty solid and impressive mild month, but its nothing compared to Jan 2006 and Jan 2002. I'm extremely confident that my statement to Joe that we wouldn't even sniff 2006's departures will come to pass.

This cold front will usher in pretty cold air...its just not directly behind the front.

True but still remarkable in what we've seen for 4 months.

Harvs stats last night of having 25% of the normal snowfall and 10% of last year is pretty substantial too in Boston.

Some areas of SN in lake effect plumes getting to me the last 90 minutes...should bode well for Mitch and Pete as this stuff skips over the HV and upslopes into them.

21.9F now...with -SN and blowing snow.

True but still remarkable in what we've seen for 4 months.

ORH was a torrid +13 yesterday. But we did string together 3 days in a row of below avg in a sea of fire and flame.

And it snowed yesterday (a little) No one is saying it has not been fairly mild for the month (cept maybe you know who)

7th row uconn cincy few beers in huzzah

WTF

The UConn fans really REALLY need to figure out how to get behind thei rteam. Student section goes nuts the whole time, all the old farts in the regular seats sit on their asses and don't cheer for 40 minutes. UConn is a team which THRIVES on energy. I'm going to the ****ing bar.

I posted this in the ski thread... but this should make some folks feel better about the winter we are having so far.

Pete has had the same amount of snow so far this season as Mammoth, California which averages 400-500". And this is their summit snowfall at over 11,000ft! Brutal 2" in Dec, and 0" in January so far.

Had another overperforming cold night last night and got down to -1.5° F. Third night in negative territory in the past week. Nice.

What pattern change? Debbie Jo says none. It is obvious our sustained pain was Canada's gain, the cold eventually had to spread like molasses. Having a cold source will allow us to reap deep into the season. I like it, month delayed but not denied.
