moneypitmike
Where is MP2? I live in MP2 now. MP1 was my house in Maine. If/when we do MP3, the intent is to use it as a vacation rental.
CapturedNature
it was unbelievable, can never remember it being like that this time of year, no snowbanks even. I'm not sure if you're referring to Fairfield or Becket, but January 1980 comes to mind: http://www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/orders/IPS-19945FFE-A87D-43E8-8FF8-7D059C7EBE1C.pdf March that year had 16.5" in Becket. Talking about Becket, never been there in mid winter with open water, no snow, no snowbanks whatsoever, Faifield is snowless most of the time. Oh right..I forgot about that house in Maine. So, I take it you would buy the place (MP3) and fix it up to use as a rental?
weathafella
A few pulses of snow grains even here over the past few minutes. January will end up with at least a trace.

That's the idea. We're looking at a number of different options--who knows if any will play out. But so far, we've seen 1500', 1800', 1900'. My wife doesn't quite get my assessment of elevation whenever we look at one. How funny it is that I assess them based on elevation! If things go through, I'd love to hook up a station so we can get readings from the nether regions. But, given the lack of internet (satellite only), it may be a situation where I can't broadcast consistently. I guess that's getting way ahead of me..... weatherMA
You guys can lock up the 1/10 storm, that's literally the ONLY day for January I'd rather it didn't snow...so it will probably happen. I'm supposed to go into Boston and go to the Bruins game that night. 36/17...cooling off nicely, a few flurries earlier. Feels like winter. snowman21
Increasing sun angle. The sunset is definitely noticeably later as it starts going back the other way before the solstice even arrives. At my latitude we've gained 12 minutes so far on the sunset, and about five minutes of daylight since the solstice. The further north you live the quicker you gain daylight. Also, the coldest day of the year is coming up in about 10 to 14 days, and then normals will begin their slow trudge upward.
CoastalWx
February and even March have done well in SNE. I don't know why people are acting like winters end by January 31st. Growing up, February was my month on the CP.

Incidentally Joe..sustain. snowpack??.......that's the very least of concerns for me. But the valentines day storm of 2007 kept things packed in for a long time. Jerry congrats on your original forecast it was spot on...........I went 37 inches at bdr with a warmer than normal winter, had +1.2 for December not nearly warm enough, but not bad for mid October guess. Mr Torchey
??? Lows of 2F is still kinda cold I would hope it cold there Dave its supposed to but that is nothing crazy for your locale, people can spin it all they want, from what was modeled 5 days out this has warmed significantly. One night of temps in the teens here, wont even by my lowest reading of the winter, pretty pathetic.

I know it's some sort of perverse defense mechanism, but I wish you'd stop employing the past tense in refernce to this winter....It's January 2nd. The irony seeing how just the other day you were exclaiming that we have NO CLUE what will happen with regard to future weather.
