Was wondering how often we get 60+ days in January. Here are the last ten at BDL, BOS, PVD, and ORH.

We use to call them Jello motors

HA! I never had one so can only go by the old footage and articles.

Here's a nice site with some good write ups and great vintage pics and restorations of all makes and models

http://www.vintagesledders.com/home/91-jlo-a-go-go-part-2

All the old engines struggled until about the late 70's early 80's. Mikuni carbs helped quite a bit IMO. Then LC changed the game forever.

I think I've lost about 2-3yrs off my life messing around in 0-10f with the Walbro WD carbs. Finally gave up and converted my old cats to Mikuni.

Another cool site, the former Arctic Cat racing team "The Widowmakers". I actually had Everet Regal rebuild a few engines for me 10 yrs ago. A couple El Tigre FA 500's and my Cheetah Kawi 440. I spent a bunch of hours on the phone with him, what a great guy he was, passed away this summer.

We held on to most all of it, The sun only made a breif appearance here, We went to 34F briefly then dropped back to 32 most of the day

Surprised to see 2 small snow piles still alive at the local WallyWorld....from October! If it gets cold maybe they can survive a few more days or weeks. They are lonely

Yeah, Those motors were fast if they held together, My 1st 2 sleds were doo 69 olympiques, 1 lungers, Man they were tough to start as they use to rip the cord right out of your hand, If you want to see some nice vintage sleds, If you ever pass thru here stop in at United Sports Vintage Sled Museum in Turner, off of Rte 4, He has a lot of pristine sleds from the 70's and 80's, Mercs, Cats, Doos, Poo's, Motoski, Alouette, Skiroule, Coleman, Johnson, Sno Jets and the list goes on

Cool, never heard of it. Only about an hour from our place in Ogunquit so maybe an afternoon trip in the spring. Thanks for the tip.

those Oly's were great, neighbors had them, fun to ride and I do remember being a b**ch to start. Especially when you're 12.

I gave 24h notice.

I may be back at the end of feb to do my final field observations.

Great beer by the way. Good pulled pork sand as well.

That is a combo I often enjoy there. They smoke all their meats in house! I do occasional work for them so I often have a bar credit to use when I have friends in town.

Just pm me and let me know. Maybe we'll actually have snow on the ground then.

Some great classics at the museum

look at those Rupps. Awesome. neighbor had a Magnum 440 that used to haul ass. Kinda tippy though.

Question: What is the closest decent riding to Southern Maine: York-OGT-Wells area? I've never taken my sleds up there but always think about it. Anything out of Berwick? Is Sanford worth it?

thx

Those areas don't see much snow, North Berwick maybe, You need to get further NW, Towards Waterboro, Standish area heading towards Seabago Lake, West is best in a normal winter.... :snowman:

well i'm all packed and ready to move to vermont tomorrow.

its going to be wierd to not have to cheer for last minute NW trends on SNE coastal storms.....i should be able to at least get scraps instead of blowing cirrus....and i'm the type of guy that is fine with scraps as long as its building the pack.

its also going to be wierd to enter the world of SW flow events, something we didnt get here maybe only very rarely (it was cutter or NE wind).

You must have gotten several SW flow events in '07-'08. How'd you guys do on 2/13/08? Proba good SWFE up there.
