Oh see OKX starting to blossom too, neat, CAA FTW

I thought it was WAA too. Maybe above 500mb there is some going on. One of those things where a few things may be going on to trigger the snow. You don't need much dynamics with a cold atmosphere to wring out snow. Most of it seems like a Lake Ontario connection and upslope, but some other stuff like PVA may be helping too.

I love when you click on the BOX radar it now brings up the Northeast Sector.

i hate it. i'm sure they didn't have much control over when to do this, but it sucks that it ended up in january (thankfully the pattern looks quiet so for the most part seems we will escape this OK)

some time in the fall or spring would have been nice.

that said, dual-pol will be cool.

Just do it in the summer, when we have no severe wx.

There might be a few flurries or a squall coming through srn NH and possibly ne mass later on. A very brief cool shot may make it down into ORH-BOS briefly this evening.

Yeah that cold front is producing up here... BTV looks to be getting smoked right now.

That should be able to hold itself together during the day today as it heads SE. At least a period of enhanced snow shower activity along with it.

yeah there is some PVA and maybe some ll forcing from the weak arctic boundary that's sagging through. add in some moisture from the lakes maybe.

I hate it Phil. :D

Agree Scott. Luckily we ended up with nothing going on right now.

That's what I think as well. You can push the air up with your hands and generate fluff if you have the moisture.

yeah i think this light stuff has been modeled off/on for quite some time, iirc...about a week ago some guidance had this feature hooking up with last night's disturbance and producing a bit of norlun feature over SNE. unfortunately it just didn't evolve very well.

It was f*cking 60F yesterday in Calgary, compared to a normal high of 26F....thats WAY above avg. Winter is no where to been seen across North America expect the FAR north.

And if you think thats bad, it was 54F in Edmonton yesterday compared to a normal high of 17F with a overnight low of 28.4F yesterday compared to a normal of -4F.

A pattern change can't come any sooner but hopefully by mid-month as some models depict, there will be widespread below normal anomalies across Western North America.
