ayuud
still getting sleet here,i hope it changes soon,,we don't have that much time.. WITH RESPECT TO CURRENT RADAR TRENDS…ANY COLD FRONTAL SHOWERACTIVITY HAS CLEARED THE NORTH COUNTRY…WITH JUST SOME SCATTERED LIGHT RAIN SHOWERS CURRENTLY LEFTOVER FROM THE FINGER LAKES EASTWARD. MEANWHILE FURTHER WEST…LAKE EFFECT PRECIP HAS FINALLY STARTED TO GET GOING OFF OF LAKE ERIE OVER THE PAST HOUR OR SO WITH THE ARRIVAL OF COLD ENOUGH AIR ALOFT…WITH ONE BAND COMING TOGETHER ACROSS THE LAKE…AND ANOTHER ALONG OR JUST INLAND FROM THE CHAUTAUQUA COUNTY SHORE. THESE SHOULD CONTINUE TO GET BETTER ORGANIZED AND MERGE TOGETHER INTO A SINGLE BAND ALONG AND SOUTH OF A BUFFALO TO BATAVIA LINE OVER THE NEXT COUPLE OF HOURS…BEFORE EVER SO SLOWLY SETTLING SOUTHWARD OVERNIGHT. THIS IS IN LINE WITH PREVIOUS FORECAST THINKING…SO NO REAL CHANGES ARE NECESSARY WITH RESPECT TO THIS. -

BuffaloWeather
Just drove from Amherst to here in Hamburg. Snow was very heavy and wind driven in Amherst/Cheektowaga with several flashes of lightning and thunder. The high winds are creating what seems to be 2 distinct bands of heavy snow. One across Chat and Catt counties as well as the northtowns of Erie county. Sometimes high winds create bands of snow that models simply do not predict. Be interesting to see what develops the next few hours. Roads are snow covered in the northtowns all the way to Walden Galleria mall. It stopped snowing at the 90/190 interchange. Buffalo Bumble
Bummed that I won't be seeing big snow totals IMBY, but this has still been a cool weather day. Spring-like to start the morning with temps in the 40's and partly sunny skies, heavy rain and winds gusting close to 60 mph by early evening, and snow squalls with 40 mph gusts and temps dropping through the 30's to close out the day. BuffaloWeather
the band looks funny lol,is it trying to reorganize again? The high winds are not allowing the band to consolidate into one intense strong band. This happened with the 2008 LES storm. There were 2 bands for most of that event. One across far southern erie and northern Chau and another across central erie county/metro area.
BuffaloWeather
doesn't he live near the Peace Bridge? Yes, literally on the water in North Buffalo. BuffaloWeather
meh...it's no Youngstown. You probably average 80-85". I don't live there Ayuud does. I live in town of Hamburg. But I agree northwestern Niagara county averages only like 50-60 inches a year. What a crazy difference a few miles makes in this area...
OSUmetstud
The warm lake isn't the problem...the marginal low-level temps are. There was 12-18" right on the water of the 62 degree lake in October 2006.
