Hello, all. Went from Elkhart to visit relatives in Highland Thurs.-Sat. instead of my original plan from Sun. afternoon to Tues a.m. when I got the original heads up on the possible LES event. Don't want to drive back here in a foot of snow and 40 mph gusts. Anyway, current thinking in Michiana is that Monday night delta T's will approach 30 C and there will be multiple bands producing anywhere from 8-14 inches and possibly more. Would be first significant LES event for my area this season. Now I can stay put the next few days and enjoy watching this event unfold.

That is the most aggressive run I've seen for NE Ohio. Looks like everyone around Cleveland has at least 8" on the ground, with a 2' blob over eastern Cuyahoga County and a 3' blob over Ashtabula County.

His scale is in millimeters for QPF, centimeters for snow depth...not inches. ;)

NAM is actually showing decent potential for LES even here in NWOH... with a WNW wind, it shows a steady (albeit weak) band from SW MI to NWOH for several hours. QPF output is only around .15-.2" or so, but combined by the winds and cold it would actually feel like winter for a day or so.

It'll be interesting to see if Markham (just north of Toronto) gets hit by any lake effect squalls tonight and tomorrow. The winds might be strong enough to allow for it. I'm off to Orangeville for a new years gathering this afternoon, right in the Ontario snow belt. Should be interesting to see if they get any snow.

Winds tonight and early tomorrow will be WSW/W. That doesn't favour anything off Georgian Bay into the GTA. Later tomorrow into tomorrow night will be somewhat better for us. I doubt we see anything like we saw in December 2010 though.

Well, my first snow that doesn't melt within a few hours might be in the making. Unfortunately the inch or so we get will be blown around into 3 inch drifts on the side of the driveway. Woohoo.

I think the wind is supposed to die down before the snow showers arrive.
