FoothillsNC
This year was around normal for my area, and points north and west, but quickly dropped into double digit negative departures in the Deep South, and went quickly above normal in Tenn, Ky regions. What's interesting about this is the fact that the new normals have shifted dramatically versus the previous 30 year average (in some places). I know for my area I went from an old normal of 50" to 47" or so. Thats a drastic drop. Lowpressure
Thanks for spending time on this research. Nice for CLT to be on the positive side for a change. Totals will make for an interesting drought graphic when it comes out.
FoothillsNC
Thanks for spending time on this research. Nice for CLT to be on the positive side for a change. Totals will make for an interesting drought graphic when it comes out. thanks. I'm still crunching some numbers but I'm sure that CLT new rain average came down substantially...new average is 41.61". For me, I'm glad for once I went anywhere close to normal, seeing how bad it could have been...I have way too many years in double digit negatives the last 13 years. I have 49.58"
Lowpressure
Several of the more extreme negative number cities did not fare well this tropical season.
Isopycnic
I've got to check my PWS data when I get home but according to my data I submitted to cocoRaHS... my yearly rainfall data so far is 30.69", which is around 13" below normal for the third year in a row. EmersonGA
I'm at 51.10" for the year. I had two near month long stretches with zero or just a trace of rain. Fortunately I also had a few months with huge totals to make up for it. I'm not sure what my normal is but I think it is around 52".
NavarreDon
40.74" thru the gauge imby. Dec. has been down right wet for me with. 6.32".....if only I could have the cold of either Dec. 2009 or 2010 to go along with that.
Bozart
My 2011 rain diary totals 43.65" at my house in western-most Pitt County, NC -- about 3" below normal, but I'll take it. August was the big monthly winner: Hurricane Irene's 8.12" storm total helped salvage what could otherwise have been another dry year. This month (December) was the driest, with only .81" recorded. CAD Addict
60.22" at my location 2 miles NW of Boone, so that's about 8.5" above normal. It didn't seem like that wet of year; however, that could be because we had quite a few huge events, not the typical days on end of light rain.
