JB just tweeted a new stratospheric warming event will take place. Oh gosh.

JB

strat warm blooms Dec 15-Jan 5, sets up cold coming, but backed away ( so US warms Jan 20-30) new one starting now!

Did post on WxBell on this. Center or warming over the pole or into Greenland leads to coldest US temps 2-3 weeks later

MINOR CHANGES MADE TO THE TEMP/DEW POINTS BASED ON LATEST TRENDS.

TEMPERATURES HAVE WARMED QUICKLY AND HAVE SURPASSED ORIGINAL HIGH

TEMPERATURE FORECAST. THEREFORE...UPDATED THE HIGH TEMPS FOR THE

DAY BY A FEW DEGREES...MIDDLE TO UPPER 40S.

Torch today out there-check this out from upton-the warmth busts even warmer!

What's sad is that they DIDN'T have that in their original forecast!

LOL-JB's still trying to deliver the goods for the weenies....

Exact same story as the 2001-02 winter. I can officially say I for the first time feel we have a repeat of that winter on our hands. No snow, above normal temperatures and JB promising a winter wonderland is still on it's way in the long range.

There are definitely some similarities though on a smaller scale. That winter the persistent lack of buckling to the jet, a small PV and PV which sat way too far north were a major problem, thats a very apparent issue this winter as well overall. However, the setup across the Pac/Western U.S. is markedly different and we are going to average much cooler in January than we did that year I believe.

Semantics. Lol. You are correct though I do remember all of that all too well. The benefit of a winter like that in 2001-02 was it allowed the WTC clean-up effort to do what it had to do with little interfence from the weather. I fail to see such a benefit for this winter. Figures this crappy winter is happening on the 10 year anniversary of the 01-02 winter.

The scary thing is how crappy patterns just seem to produce progressively milder and milder winters as time goes on. Similar bad patterns in the 60s or 70s produced mild but not top 10 warmest months, it seems now a bad pattern in 2012 produces a month 2 degrees warmer than the same pattern would have produced in 1987. Not necessarily a solid indicator of global warming because its over a relatively small sample size when you consider how long the planet has existed but its hard to argue totally against it.

The thought of it actually sickens me. Frustrating beyond belief.

This is why i dont like this whole global warming craze right now. If you think about how long the earth has existed and how long we've been around and produced pollution you think we've really destroyed the atmosphere to warrant this kind of attention? I think not and the earth goes through periods of climate cooling and warming so i dont know if its even possible for us to be causing this warming stuff

I am against the whole global warming theory. Earth usually goes through cycles of warming and cooling. The global warming thing is used as political theme.

Thats bull****. The anti-global warming campaign is the biggest political theme and an attempt by the right wing to push back at the "liberal" (rational/realistic) movement to protect the environment. Right wing hates any limit on their ability to live as they want to, semi-automatic guns, massive pollution, etc...Except when it comes to things they do not want to do, such as abortions and drugs, that they try and control. The hypocrisy is insane.

Drill baby drill!

Sure, the earth has gone through periodic warming and cooling cycles, but the correlation between the recent spike in CO2 emmisions, the correllated increase in the global CO2 readings and the global temperature increase is statistically significant.

Any rational, clear headed individual without a motive or an ideology can look at the facts and see the truth. If A then B. If B then C. Then, if A, then C. But the right wingers love to say, but wait, just because A then B, and B then C, there's no proof that A-->C. Maybe something else has caused C...yes maybe something else has contributed, BUT if A causes B, and B causes C, then it is indisputed that A in some effect causes C.

Any other conclusion goes against the simplest logical analysis.
