Brian5671
someone needs to bump noreaster27's post about the gfs long range showing a strong SE ridge. Worst run we can imagine. There is a tropical storm about to hit NC at the end of the run as well. what a blowtorch that run is...shouldn't be surprised I guess.
ag3
yup...it's been over for some time. Only thing left to root for is snowfall minimums for our respective stations... No. Why? I'll be have with 3" of snow. While the prospects look terrible now, it's still only Jan. 10 and we have until end of March to pull off some snow. CooL
I try to stay optimistic on the forum because it is very easy to become negative in winters like this one. If I see a possible potential, I think it is worthy to discuss. Of course, sometimes you just don't have material to work with! Let's see how the 00z runs go for the weekend clipper. A -WPO pattern can be rewarding with enough latitude to get some wintry precipitation. those thread the needle potentials are not the same as last year when you made your own thread about trouble brewing and discussed about the 3 blizzards weeks and even a month in advance.. that's when we know you are pretty excited about a threat

I mean heck, when was the last time we had a good overrunning event?

I'd rather have 3" then no snow at all to break records.

I forgot about the front end dump there--that was largely unforcast too--would have loved it if the overnight part had occured during the day--that would have been a sight to see. tmagan
If Central Park didn't receive another snowflake the rest of the way, it would still not be the all-time lowest snowfall for recorded history.

StatenWx
The sobering truth is we probally won't break 8" of snow here in staten island heck maybe not even 4" which is very depressing to a huge snow head like me ;(

I may be picking on you since this is a very trendy thing to do right now, but give it a rest. Having an interest in a science is great and there are certain responsibilities that come with that. But these superstitious / illogical associations everyone keeps making and trying to paint themes is simply not scientific. It doesn't make you look any better to continue to say things like this. We get it; you are upset that it isn't snowing like last year.

MJO812
I would sacrifice 2-3 years of snow if I can be guaranteed a Knicks championship. I would sacrifice 4-5 years of snow if the Mets win the world series.
SnoSki14
Well when we have had several KUs in the past couple of winters, having a very bad winter is not as disappointing as it would normally be. There are definite positives with a warm/snowless winter when it comes to our wallets/pockets, enjoying outdoor activities, less heat expended at home. This winter so far is either an extended autumn or an early spring. Now for spring, I fear a wet and chilly spring or a very hot spring. Warmth is just dominating every month so I'm betting on another much warmer than normal Spring than a cool, wet one.

HM
If the clipper/vort track works out, there will be a stripe of 1-3" across the Mid Atlantic.

MJO812
Going to be another torcy long range, +NAO, SE ridge flexing its muscles= torch. All the cold air is in Canada. I wouldn't really worry about the long range at this point.
