KEITH L.I
I would sacrifice 2-3 years of snow if I can be guaranteed a Knicks championship. last Knick championship was 72-73 when CP had it's lowest yearly snow total..maybe that means something

They wont win a championship again for at least 10 years or so and only if they draft well. Rossi
Cfa
Parts of the Northeast especially where the heaviest amounts fell have a shot at the October snows being the biggest of the season. I find it funny how Central LI is brown. It came down hard but only left a coating/trace which melted when the sun came up. I'm one of the few that had no real measurable snow. CooL
someone needs to bump noreaster27's post about the gfs long range showing a strong SE ridge. Worst run we can imagine. SnowGoose69
The Euro gets really cold at the end of the run. It's always 7-10 days away. Someone just showed me the Euro map from 3 days ago at 240 hours compared to the one at 168 now and the 850 temps have easily gone up about 10 degrees...of course the semi-storm developing over the Midwest is sort of the reason why but thats still crazy. I'm one of the few that had no real measurable snow. I'm in that central LI brown hole and will vouch for the lack of accumulation here in October (not even a dusting). You win some and you loose some. PS I don't find it funny at all j/k

Good thing that E-wall now saves archives of GFS and ECM runs - Current ECM at hour 168 is clearly warmer and further west with the cold air than it was at hour 240. A trend can also be observed where the ridging near western Alaska has trended slightly further west.

HM
The only way I don't officially give up is if HM somehow comes up with a post of optimism. But there is honestly nothing good out there. Aleutian ridges aren't great if the downstream pattern is mediocre. I try to stay optimistic on the forum because it is very easy to become negative in winters like this one. If I see a possible potential, I think it is worthy to discuss. Of course, sometimes you just don't have material to work with! Let's see how the 00z runs go for the weekend clipper. A -WPO pattern can be rewarding with enough latitude to get some wintry precipitation.

That would be a BIG slap in the face. I posted that a few days ago, the analogs for this spring/summer are generally cool and wet for the most part. In reality though this region is never totally assured of continuous warm weather til about the 10th of June, we've had some springs where we've been hot most of the time such as 2010 or 1991 but we've also had plenty of springs like 1996 or 2003 as well.
