donsutherland1
At 2 pm, Central Park hit 60°. That is the first 60° reading in January in New York City since January 9, 2008 when the mercury soared to 64°.
Cfa
Very disgusting out there right now. Even embarrasing if you expect a tourist from the Deep South to expect and enjoy typical wintry weather up here at this time. I cringe when I do not observe New Yorkers getting crippled by cold air. I want them to not have the will to go outside; be overly dressed; and to have the heat on 24/7 during sub-10*F arctic air. That is my inner weenie's dream for any winter. Well that's no fun. I cringe when we don't get out of the 30's. It just doesn't feel nice.
HailMan06
I just drove back from work and had the car windows down the entire time. Temp's in the 60's in January, wtf.
ELCwx
Just got back from a nice 60 minute walk. Very refreshing. Kids playing basketball at the hoop at the end of the street. Chance to talk to some neighbors outside in the 60+. Started some plans for spring landscaping projects to fix some of the damage from the last 12 months. Last year on this date was 11.5" from the Norlun event here.
NYCSuburbs
I don't remember the last time I saw this show up... it suddenly seems strange to see most of the US covered with below average temperatures:
TheTrials
sun is setting noticeably later now which means its only a matter of time before we are battling solar insulation, if it ever decides to snow again.

doncat
I know we go thru this whenever its mild at this time of year but its surprising to me how people who post on a weatherboard and obviously enjoy weather can like warm temps in january. It seems that some of you like snow and have no other interest in weather at all. If I hear "if it ain't gonna snow it might as well be warm" again I'm gonna scream Cheers to the us who love the cold whether it snows or not (of course I prefer snow) Rant over... have a happy

I've noticed that too, always good to see the sun set later and later. Too bad it takes so long, lol.

TheTrials
looks like we get a well time 50/50 low and a nice hp along with a vort that isn't perfectly phased so it won't cut. Not a bad looking setup, but we all know how are luck has been so far fun to have something to watch
JERSEYSNOWROB
HM did say awhile back to watch around that time for something to develop too. I think this might be our first serious threat boys!
CooL
another possible storm around the 18th on the GFS. I think HM has been talking about it, not sure though.

Maybe, but but we could be due for some good luck. The long-range storm would probably be snow with those 850s and deepening low, but nice to have something middle-range to track. TheTrials
Definitely looks like h5 needs some to my novice eyes like you said..just nice to have something pre-truncation hours lol. with a poor atlantic setup we dont want a full phased closed off system over texas, that would be rain for everyone. Its another small window of opportunity, and so far, none have worked out, so you gotta hedge bust on this, but hey, positive attitude positive results, rights?
