Thundersnow12
looks like decent clipper potential with a few systems over the next few days into the new year as we get these waves to ride along the intense low-level baroclinic zone. Best areas look to be along and north of I-90, possibly further south.

Yeah, could at least help to lay down some marginal snowpack in the N Great Lakes (any snow from clippers will probably melt in MKE and Chicago) to help any future storms coming up in early January. Chicago WX
No doubt Jerry's squirrel theory has been put to the test this early part of winter, but man there's some jumbo fat squirrels in my parent's neighborhood. I mean overly obese.

SEMIweather
Between tomorrow's system and the few late week clippers I'm actually liking our chances of building up some snow pack.

Chicago WX
I like loLAF better Hmm, no I still like lolLAF. I'll only use it for the temperature readings/obs though...at times when it's questionable (not saying today is BTW).

Exactly^! Milwaukee could cash in on some snow come Friday according to the new GFS. Snowpack down in northern Wisconsin would help the clipper pull down more cold air and do away with 32°> boundary layer.
hawkeye_wx
Dang, the 12z Euro really torches us later this week. After a day back down in the 30s tomorrow, the Euro has upper 40s by Thursday and well into the 50s Saturday... although it really drops us down by Sunday into the 20s. Quite a weather pattern we're stuck in.
dmc76
Looks like a shot of 1-4 inches Thursday through Friday from MSP to FNT.
cyclone77
Fell short of 50 today at 44 due to increasing clouds this afternoon. May get a few sprinkles tonight, but other than that it looks dry for the next 6-8 days. The weak clipper train looks to stay north of us.
Stevo6899
Looks like a shot of 1-4 inches Thursday through Friday from MSP to FNT. Nickel and dime our way to average this winter and I'll take it.

on_wx
TWN has the wind chill at 3F for Wednesday. Looking forward to some frigid temps. Bring on the -20F's and beyond! -28.8F last winter was more exciting than possibly hitting 100F this summer. My drink and lighter froze solid to a deck in less than 30 minutes. 126F difference in the temp between highs and lows in 2011 for Waterloo. Could be higher, someone vandalized the weather station on the hottest day on record this year.
