Yeah my eyeballing was a bit optimisitc, snow depth is at 2.5" right now.

I also learned that its impossible to take a snow depth measurement on a college campus without looking like a bit of a dweeb.

My backyard is pretty secluded so I don't have to feel inhibited by prying neighbors when I measure but I do feel a little weird when I'm out and about taking photographs of the snow and there are people around.

All I can say is WOW. Total wonderful surprise tonight! In 2 hours we have picked up 2.0" of pure arctic-like fluff (40-1 ratio). Its a marshmallow world outside :)

Yeah I have a secluded backyard as well so measuring snow is easier that way. No prying eyes. Who knew measuring snow could be stressful? lol

Lol. Congrats on your snow. Being in geology, I did lots of measuring and field type exercises that made me and other majors stand out too! I just got used to other people staring at us. A couple hydrology problems we would take snow measurements/cores and figure out the water equivalent in the lab. Fun stuff!

Haha! I was a landscape design/horticulture major, so a lot of my classes were tree, plant, and flower identification. Needless to say, I was often in the class walking around Penn State's campus touching, eye balling, and sniffing random plants to determine which plants they were. This was done in sun, sleet, rain, wind, and snow. I remember our professor making us walk all over campus after an 8 inch snowfall to take a plant identification quiz.
