What are you running for temps? We have cooled pretty quick here already down to 32F

Even though it's BKN/OVC here winds are light enough that we've seen some radiational cooling. I'm not sure how much of my current 37.6F is "real" right now. The Gunstock station at 1350ft is still sitting at 40.5F/34.0F with W winds gusting to 15mph. The entire Mt Wash auto road is 32F or lower now so hopefully that bodes well for here after midnight.

We are still under clear skies here so we are radiating well, Now down to 31F, Not going to waste any qpf on rain it seems wetbulb is at 27F

Well you have a shallow inversion going on I'm sure. It doesn't tkae much for downdrafts with the onset of the precip to mix out that cold sfc layer. I think we'll be OK, but at least down here it may be a putrid 33-35F snow to start.

As I'm about to hit send the wind has picked back up here to 8-10mph and the temp has jumped from 37.6F to 38.3F. Maybe a radiationally cooled lower 30m will help, but I've too often seen it get mixed out.

40.5F/33.9F I was down to 39.8F a little while ago. Awfully warm.

For those who are interested, the evening sounding is on the way up here at GYX. We're sitting at 40 degrees at the office, and remain above freezing to about 900 mb. Lots of room for wet bulb cooling though.

Thanks. 38 here in Scarborough. Encouraging to see some of the area DPs....

Interesting that here, despite being 38, we have puddles freezing up on the sidewalks. Seems as if the last few days of actual polar air have primed the ground surfaces to be cold. So we have sub-freezing air at the surface with 2m temps well above. Could mean a little freezing rain at onset for some places.

I was noticing the same thing. The ground has finally been primed. On Tuesday there were some stubborn patches of pavement and brick in the Old Port that were still glazed late in the day, long after the air temp had climbed to near 40.

Looks like the WBZ on the GYX 00z RAOB is around 920mb. The 6hr 18z NAM had it at 965mb and the GFS was 960mb. The balloon went up a little after 23z so maybe that would account for the lag in CAA?

I’ve got a few more temperature observations from this evening. We headed in to Stowe for a bit, and on the way in earlier this evening the temperature readings through Waterbury, Colbyville, and Waterbury Center were in the 33-34 F range on the car thermometer. On the way back though about a half hour ago it was 32 F for the whole route, and here at the house we’ve got a reading of 30.7 F.
